Publisher's Summary

In this provocative but balanced audiobook, Kenneth Minogue discusses the development of politics from the ancient world to the twentieth century. He prompts us to consider why political systems evolve, how politics offers both power and order in our society, whether democracy is always a good thing, and what future politics may have in the twenty-first century.

"A very basic, yet thought provoking introduction"

It is a good introduction to politics as a whole and it is very thought provoking. I got through it in 2 sittings.

    "Waffle, heaped upon endless waffle"
If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?

    Nobody. I really mean this.

Has Politics: A Very Short Introduction put you off other books in this genre?

Not at all. Ben Dupre does one called 50 ideas. It is lovely :-)

What aspect of Eric Martin’s performance might you have changed?

You cannot blame the messenger. The author is the flaw.

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    No, none whatsover.

    Any additional comments?

I listened for a long time, waiting to learn something. I didn't.

Eventually I picked out chapters of interest. It was just endless words, without ever actually saying anything.

I really am appalled and will happily look the author in the eye and tell him to get a job. I am slightly annoyed that I paid to have this chancer waste my leisure time.
