Play with Fire, the debut book by popular speaker and teacher Bianca Juarez Olthoff, is the reminder that God isn't waiting until you have more resources or a spouse or a job so he can use you. He's ready to use you now.
Using the mythical creature the phoenix, which was also referenced by early church leaders, she parallels this story with God's work in her own life, highlighting the beauty of reinvention with fire as both the impetus and the method for change. Olthoff reminds us that we serve a god who is redemptive and can take the worst situations and use them for his glory.
Play with Fire is a Bible-infused message that will help women discover:
With Olthoff's distinct style, strong storytelling gifts, and powerful Bible teaching, Play with Fire will remind listeners that God has huge dreams for them. In Bianca's words, "He's whispering in the wind and speaking through the fire and shouting in silence the extraordinary dream he is birthing in you. His dream for you is far greater than the dream you have for yourself. It's not your identity or income or influence that will make this happen. Like Zechariah 4:6 says, 'It's not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the Lord.'" It's time to play with fire.

"Even better on Audible!"
I have actually enjoyed the hard copy of this book multiple times and it's honestly better with every read. It truly comes alive, though, when being read aloud by the author herself. She's an absolutely captivating storyteller and the quick cover-to-cover floats by like a long lunch with a dear, old friend. It's real and raw, filled with laughs (and some tears) but packed with unassuming candor and solid spiritual fundamentals. More than worth repeated rereads.
"A MUST listen :)"
I absolutely loved this book! I finished it so quickly and will be sure to listen again and again. I connected to her story and her humor is a nice touch. Can't wait to get my hands on the book itself and I hope to be in the presence of the author again soon. She is an amazing woman!
This is a captivating story with a message that will stick with you forever. If you're in a hard season, you don't want to miss this book. If you're not in a hard season, trust me. You don't want to miss it either! Also - I love that it was read by the author. She read it beautifully! I loved getting to hear her words in her own voice!
"Stirred up a fire in me"
Bianca tells a story so passionate and powerful to draw you in and examine your own walk with God.
The "story telling" is captivating from beginning to end! Great testimony. It's reassuring to know details of others struggles and challenges, to know what it took for someone to reach God's promises and purpose.
"Simple, short but powerful"
May the Holy Spirit speak to you through this book as I experienced. A confirming understanding of what a wilderness season feels like and the true promises of a promise land. A new look at Israelites, Joshua and the fires that engulfed three men. This book gave me encouragement in the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
"Amazing book! So personal!"
Seriously I needed this book after the events that I saved a couple of weeks ago, Bianca your words are like fire – they propel me to see God even when it's hard! Thank you for the words of encouragement!
Perfect read for those who feel in a rut spiritually . It's full of zeal and empowerment. She brings a whole new meaning to the power of our very own testimony to propel others into the arms of Jesus. Raw. Authentic. Entertaining. You will laugh, cry, and hit your knees in praise!
"SO SO Good!!"
Love listening to Bianca teach God's Word in her own witty style! Great encouragement to push through and remember God can even when we don't see how or when.
"Heart warmed by Bianca's Play with Fire"
Bianca's struggles are easily recognizable in me. From the need for external validation to weight issues and constant comparisons among peer groups. Bianca is real, vulnerable and available to the reader in her self-proclaimed imperfections. But she doesn't stop at the "woe is me" stage -- she steps into uninvited challenges and emerges transformed.
Her sense of humor coupled with her sound biblical knowledge made this book a delightful and meaningful at the same time.
She resists the urge to tie a bow on a "perfect" story and acknowledges that struggle will always be with us - but we are not alone in the refiners fire.
