Summary

Long before the phrase 'climate change' was a universal catchphrase, His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales was studying the impact of industrialization on the environment. Now, in this fascinating cross-disciplinary work, the Prince of Wales calls upon his years of research and explores the way in which mankind must work to restore the delicate balance with nature that we've lost in the centuries since the industrial revolution began.

In Harmony, His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales draws upon a variety of elements from our modern world, and discusses how areas as diverse as architecture, farming, and medicine have each abandoned the classical balances with nature that existed in pre-industrial times. From the rice farms of India to America's corn belt, Harmony spans the globe, dissecting the specific practices of modern life that have put us at odds with nature and showing how these trends manifest themselves throughout the world.

Contrasting current styles of architecture with traditional design, and modern medicine techniques against those of the past, he paints a clear portrait of what we as a species have lost in the modern age. More than simply another treatise on global warming, Harmony tells a story that presents a clear, thoughtful look at how our disassociation from nature has led to the greatest environmental crisis in the history of mankind.

A wonderful book!

This is a wonderful book mainly about the environment, history and the future. It is very clearly and logically laid out (not an easy task with so much information). I consider myself fairly well-informed on the environment etc., but certainly learned a lot. It) is also quite inspirational - I realy think if I had read this while at school I might have taken up science (but only for the right reasons - i.e. to help protect nature..). Of course, the fact it is read by Prince Charles is a great bonus - he has a very pleasant voice and it is a pleasure to hear someone with the perfect pronunciation!!!

Very enjoyable listen

I have and would recommend this book to everyone. It's a pleasure to listen to and can lead to you wanting to do your own further research on subjects you may be interested in.

Its well laid out and easy to understand as well as not being to technical. It looks at different things and does a good job in bringing subjects together and linking them. I have listened to it twice and enjoyed it both times.

Ideal for anyone including students and people with a interest in the environment, culture, travel, history, art literature amongst other things.

brilliant book

Everyone knows Charles is passionate about the environment but I hadn't realised just how radical he is. Really brilliant book and surprisingly well performed. He's very knowledgeable and passionate about many important themes.

Deep, Insightful and Reflective

Harmony is a truly breathtaking body of work. Through a sustainable revolution, it is clear that His Royal Highness sees restoring the biodiversity of the planet as one of utmost importance. From Universal Wisdom to Social History and green initiatives, the depth of research contained within is staggering and will make even the most sceptic amongst us consider our place in the world and the trajectory we are on.

Magnificent erudition and abundant soul

My love and respect for the man sprouted from what was a decades long scepticism and sometimes mockery.

I was wrong. Listening to the voice of King Charles III was a surreal experience. He has a wonderful voice and the commitment and love he has for this subject is never questioned.

Have a listen. Read it. Look up the names and the eras he speaks of and you will no more than most Phd grads. The journey will be long and this is a good thing.

There should be a children’s version of this book written by the King and crucially, with references with which they can relate.

A renaissance man, not a WEF stooge

Now Charles is King it's super important that he is in the room at the globalist forums. He understands the dangers presented by blind ideology, and the primacy of consciousness and order in all of nature, including in us. This is a message of unity for all peoples in this time of global conflict and uncertainty. Beautifully spoken, a really important book.

Natural Global solutions

I highly recommend this prescient, heartfelt and utterly sensible book. I’m convinced it may well hold the secret to the paradigm shift humanity urgently needs in order to save our planet and ourselves. The book, written over 10 years ago, holds wisdom which could not be more relevant today, in 2020 with a global virus as our wake up call. Perhaps now we can see the problems are deeply interconnected and global ....as are the solutions.

A wonderful surprise

By the end of the book, I had a far greater knowledge and understanding of the natural systems that underpin the world we live in, and their importance, especially now. I hope as many people as possible will be exposed to the knowledge in this book, as I feel it contains so many hugely important lessons, that if continue to be neglected, will have dire consequences.

Enlightening

Having watched the show about his 70th birthday I was curious to read more about his passions and beliefs as they appeared to be aligned with mine. No matter how much you think you know, you can always learn more. For me it was re the storms in Thailand, what Sainsbury and Waitress are doing and re establishing our relationship with nature. as a mother of a Suffolk 12 year old, I was pleased with the connection his maths teacher is making with algebra and nature and will consider this aspect along with Knowledge and grades. We have always loved, supported and worked with nature but I will try and understand and read nature and her signs more and get back to involving my son with her more, as we did when we home schooled during is primary school years. I will be recommending this book to others.

Huge topic, very well addressed, succinct

Would you listen to Harmony again? Why?

Yes - so many very interesting points that he raised that I would definitely like to go over again.

Have you listened to any of H.R.H. The Prince of Wales’s other performances? How does this one compare?

This is the first book of his I have read/listened to, and I really like the fact that he read it himself. Clear, well read and easy going.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The glimpses of hope he offers if we make a collective effort and stand to adjust our way of thinking and to use technology for the betterment of the planet rather than for humankind only.Highlights the efforts around the world that are already making a difference in big business, Transition towns and Permaculture.

Any additional comments?

I would encourage as many people as possible to read/listen to this book.
