Was unsure about purchasing this book but from the first chapter it fascinated me. So much information on the history of England, Scotland France and America. The sight down side is that it's very American oriented but if you can get passed that you should love it.
The author has done a good job of giving loads of information but without giving away the secrets of Freemasonry.
Think that it's one I will be listening to again.
"This should be required for all new Freemasons!"
I learned so much history from this book! It was more educational then I could have ever hopped for. This book is great for Freemasons of many years, new Freemasons, Freemasons looking to join other Masonic groups or just the general public who want to know more about freemasonry or for people who may want to join a lodge.
"Must read for masons."
Interesting no matter whether you're a new Masonic Brother, interested in becoming one or a Master Mason this book is definitely worth the read or listen in this case!
I really enjoyed listening to this and will keep following more about this remarkable group
"As Brilliantly Entertaining As Informative"
The internet is an incredible tool for learning about almost anything you'd care to dive into. Unfortunately, getting a solid understanding of Freemasonry from the outside is something that the internet cannot help you do (unless of course you want to believe the many far-fetched conspiracy theories). Enter 'Freemasonry for Dummies' stage east. As someone who is very much interested in joining the fraternity, I wanted to know what I was getting into (and whether there was anything that would run counter to my faith). I discovered this book in my searching, and truly enjoyed listening to it in entirety. As odd as it is to say, this is by far the most entertaining "reference manual" I've ever come across. If you are new to the craft, considering becoming a member, or want to know the truth behind the myths, I would recommend this book to you.
"Very helpful and accurate"
It gave the Best understanding of freemasonry that I have ever received by any Book.
He was a Big help in keeping my mind engaged
HIGH POTENTIAL FOR SUBJECT MATTER. FORMATTED AS A LECTUR THIS BECAME REDUNDANT AND DULL. IF THE AUTHOR WERE OF A MIND TO USE HIS KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THIS SUBJECT AND COMPOSED A GOOD HISTORICAL FICTION NOVEL THAT COULD BE VERY INTERESTING.
"Informative but redundant.
As a source of history it was very i nteresting. It was also very informative about the subject matter, but it was too long and redundant...it almost seemed as if there was nothing else to be written, say, after chapter 11, and the rest was tiny pieces of information mixed with tons of personal opinions...I finished it though, but...meh!
As with any book written about Freemasonry by a Freemason it is hindered by the oath of secrecy. This book contains the usual tone of masonic writing addressing wild accusations and misconceptions with mild dismissive humour but without providing any insight to make acknowledging them worthwhile. It teaches virtually nothing about masonry and focuses on making it appear unthreatening and mundane. There's nothing here for anyone who is already past the apprehension about it and simply wants a balanced insight.
"Everything you wanted to know ..."
But we're afraid to ask. I was curious about freemasonry. After listening to this, not only do I want to join, but I know why I want to and how to join. The history of it all puts everything into perspective. I highly recommend it.
"Answered almost all of my question about the fraternity"
Anyone who has attempted to learn more about Freemasonry but don't have the resources to learn more about it needs this!
