But now, sixteen years since he was first launched into his nursing career - as the only man in a gynaecology ward - he's pretty much dealt with everything: Body parts that come off in his hands; Teenagers with phantom pregnancies; Doctors unable to tell the difference between their left and right; Violent drunks; Singing relatives; Sexism... and a whole lot of nudity. From the team that brought you the bestselling 'Confessions of a GP', comes a touching, shocking and frequently hilarious account of one man's life in nursing.

"A fantastic read. Everything I had always suspected about nurses and so much more!" (Dr Benjamin Daniels, author of bestselling 'Confessions of a GP)
Tried to persevered with this book as i do enjoy autobio's but couldn't get used to the narrator constantly inhaling to speak after every other word, so annoying and off putting i gave up in the end, would have been an enjoyable listen if it wasn't for his bla bla (inhale) bla bla (inhale) and on and on...........
This book was a good insight into the world of hospitals, but it did make me think "I have got that!" so it is worth a listen, the seriousness is mixed with a good dose of humour. So try not to think of all of the things that might go wrong with us, and look at it as an enlightening and entertaining listen
The author comes over, like most nurses, as a caring and compassionate individual. The book shows the health service - warts and all, to be far removed from the original values and practices of the earlier nursing profession. The book touches lots of emotions, recounting happy and sad events as well as funny and serious incidents. In all a very enjoyable book.
interesting read! well written, elk read, kept my interest throughout.
as a nurse, it was interesting to hear how nurses in other countries deal with nursing issues. great book!
I started doing audible to listen to on my way to work and back home and I found myself not being able to put down the phone I would go to bed listening to it ! It's great it's really entertaining and I was very sad when it ended.
