Is there credible evidence that Jesus of Nazareth really is the son of God?
Retracing his own spiritual journey from atheism to faith, Lee Strobel, former legal editor of the Chicago Tribune, cross-examines a dozen experts with doctorates from schools like Cambridge, Princeton, and Brandeis who are recognized authorities in their own fields.
Strobel challenges them with questions like: How reliable is the New Testament? Does evidence for Jesus exist outside the Bible? Is there any reason to believe the resurrection was an actual event?
In this winner of the Gold Medallion Book Award and two-time nominee for the Christian Book of the Year Award, Strobel's tough, point-blank questions play like a captivating, fast-paced novel. But it's not fiction. It's a riveting quest for the truth about history's most compelling figure.
The new edition includes scores of revisions and additions, including updated material on archaeological and manuscript discoveries, fresh recommendations for further study, and an interview with the author that tells dramatic stories about the book's impact, provides behind-the-scenes information, and responds to critiques of the book by skeptics. This updated edition will prove even more valuable to contemporary listeners.

Whether you believe in God or not, I believe that you need to invest in this book! I think that he's covered enough ground, and spoken to all of the preeminent men in their field to allow you to make a truly informed decision on whether or not Jesus Christ is 'for real'!
And, just in case you didn't have all of your questions answered satisfactorily, there's even an extensive bibliography and references section. For you to delve deeper!
Lee Strobel's diligence and determination, has saved many of us a lot of time. I really appreciate this book.
fascinating look at the historical evidence. we all have an opinion on this and no matter what your opinion is I doubt it is based on all the facts. This book provides a wealth of information in a well thought out and entertaining way. Well worth reading not matter what you believe
Entertaining, Thought-provoking, Challenging
It is full of them too many to list
Very matter of fact and level headed
They have: "Based on the true story of an award-winning journalist who, working to disprove the new found Christian faith of his wife, begins chasing down the biggest story of all time ... with unexpected, life-altering results."
Skeptics of the Christian faith, use this and other Lee Strobell Books as an introduction to your walk with Christ. Belivers, use this book and others in the Lee Strobell Series of books as an introduction to your study of apologetics.
I liked the depth and breadth of the book, it helped me get my head round the historical evidence for Christ.
I found the American style a little trying.
"Great for skeptics and believers"
i used to believe there was no "proof" for the faith I was raised with, but this book has changed that. This book has proven to me that there is a rational, factual basis for the existence and deity of Jesus. it has also given me an interest in christian apologetics, which I plan to further explore. I highly recommend that Christians and skeptics read this book!
INCREDIBLE. everything was phonomanal, the narrating, the story, the testimony, etc. It's the best Christian book I've experienced since reading Unbroken!!!
"Not very thorough."
It seems as though Lee is simply "straw manning " atheistic premises, arguments, and conclusions and allowing his experts, of which all were biased apologists, to knock them down with as much "evidence" as "you couldn't imagine" or "no one would say." And no attempt was given to any other credible experts to provide any corroborating or contrary expert evidence or conclusions.
"Easy to follow Evangelical apologetics"
If you are expecting Lee Stobel's transformation story from atheist to Christian, you'll likely be disappointed in this book. But, if you're looking for replies to common ( and some not so common) questions against Christianity, from the reliably of the New Testament to the likelihood of the resurrection, you'll find plenty to like here.
Stobel does a nice job of summarizing responses from leading Evangelical scholars in an easy to follow format. But, he does not act like a skeptic nor an investigative journalist here. He fawns over the credentials and responses of his interviewees, readily accepts the views he already agrees with (he's been a pastor for 20 years by the time conducts these interviews), denigrates the people (derisively labeled as "liberals" or "left-wing Christians," would a skeptic see these labels negatively or the already converted?), dismisses the views he doesn't, and doesn't talk to any skeptic or differing opinions or interpretations of the data. He does have tough questions for his interviews, but his one-sided reporting I hope is not indicative of the state of investigative, open-minded journalism he espouses in the subtitle of the book.
Good read... Presents good facts but leaves many out.. To me should be case for the bible not case for Christ...
I really enjoyed this book! Having been raised by parents that strongly believed in a humanistic perspective, I came to know Christ as my Saviour when I was 23. After years of following a legalistic view of God because of the denomination I was in, through much soul search I came across this wonderful book! I regret not having read it years ago and strongly encourage EVERYONE to read it now! Thank you Mr Strobel for this masterpiece and the time you took to help us understand why we can be assertive about our faith in Christ! To God be the Glory!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It reaffirmed what I I already have known my entire life
Great book! Lee provides great solutions to common questions that I face daily about my faith in Jesus.
"A completely new perspe3ctive"
Inquisitive, Thorough, Spiritual
I wouldn't say I had a favorite character; rather, I was impressed with the faith and passion of all the experts.
My biggest complaint is that it was hard to follow who was speaking. The narrator would sometimes take quotes from the one he was interviewing, sometimes he would paraphrase, and sometimes he would comment on their content. He would weave in and out of these perspectives which made it difficult to separate his views from those of the experts.
I could have easily done so due to the passion and excitement of the reader; however, there is a lot of information and analysis so after a while your brain starts to hurt and it is better to think on the content and come back later.
Overall I genuinely loved the book. I have never been a religious person and have always envied those who have, as I called it, "blind faith." I was the one to say; "How can anyone believe all those mythical stories!" even though i had no knowledge of the religion beyond a few years of CCD as a child. This book completely changed the way I think about Christianity because I realized that there is a lot of historical information to back up the claims of Christianity especially when compared to other historical information that we take as fact. I would recommend this book for anyone looking to broaden your understanding of WHY people have the faith that they hold so strongly. Its changed my life as I am now a believer.
"Wow. Blown away. Recovered a struggling faith."
Struggling with the ability to historically and anthropologically defend a faith I claim...this book Reignighted in me a flame to not just believe because I do. But to dive deeper. Seek more. And ultimately realize the true historical and spiritual Jesus.
