"Learn In Your Car Spanish 2"

Started learning Spanish with this. It is good while I work as a car salesman. I can listen to it while I wait for customers to come in many of whom are Spanish!
Format is made up of an English sentance followed by it being translated in Spanish twice. This format makes learning easy as you are taking small bytes of info at a time. . However as there are no long conversatioins I found I needed more material to practice my Spanish as so am learning from "Spanish without the fuss" by Living Language.
I tried Barons and found it too much immersion as I did not know what was being said

"Learn in your car spanish 2"

The spanish speaker speaks too fast and the tape is too advanced with many tenses a beginner would not use. I wanted to extend my vocabulary after level one and this just does not do it.

"The Audible platform is the problem here"

I already had some of the other Penton CDs and was happy with the pace and the quality of instruction. Learn in Your Car: Spanish, Level 2 is no exception. The problem is that the Audible tool does not allow you to browse between lessons, so you can't select a specific lesson that you want to study over again.

    "Mushmouth Spanish for Suckers"

I do not recommend this series. The Spanish speaker speaks so quickly it's hard to understand what he's saying. The booklets are great and the English speaker is fine, but there is not enough explanation and, again, the Spanish speaker os so bad as to make this series completely useless.

    "Worth a credit"

This is not for beginner, but if you want to understand spanish people, you have to get used to people speaking fast, and this speaker is good. Also, it has an excellent vocabulary bank compared to other courses. It is a good complement for the Pimsler spanish. The only annoying think is the music between chapters.

    "Great Spanish Tapes!!!"
What made the experience of listening to Learn in Your Car the most enjoyable?

You can learn Spanish in your car, and they move slowly enough that you can follow it. They give the English sentence, and then repeat the Spanish sentence twice, allowing time for you to repeat it. They also introduce words slowly so you can increase your vocabulary. For example, "I sold my car." "You sold your house on the beach." "You (formal) sold my things." ... So you pick up vocabulary. Also, by the time you move through all 3 sets (3 hours each), you will have covered 4 tenses (present, past (preterite), past imperfect, and future. Because the speaker always speaks complete sentences, you learn the order of sentences in Spanish without thinking about it. I can listen to these over and over to help improve, as I do not practice speaking in Spanish as much as I would like.

    Any additional comments?

I highly recommend this language set.

"Note - Listeners Guide Not Included"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

My Level One is a cassett version which includes a listeners guide. I use the guide to keep track of where I am and to clarify anything that I don't hear distinctly. I miss the guide in audible Level Two.

What did you like best about this story?

This program worked well for me in Level One so I expect to learn with Level Two as well.

What does the narrator bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    Very clear pronounciation.

    Any additional comments?

I am fairly new to using my kindle. I decided to use it for this particular publication because I expected the kindle to accommodate audio along with a display of the listeners guide. My mistake but someone else might benefit from my experience.

"Good drill practice on intermediate spanish"

There are some negative reviews here that I think are really unjustified, all of which have to do with the (really quite medium) pace of the speakers. For someone with a little Spanish under their belt this will probably provide nice drill practice at a realistic cadence. Book 2 specializes in past tenses and pronouns, with a few short dialogs thrown in on things like using the telephone. There is no explanation and the dialog is mostly disjoint sentences that they speak and expect you to follow. If you don't like the drill format or you want Spanish described, I can see why you would not like this book. However, for what it is the book is well done.

"Very good for what it does..."

This is very good rote/repetition, done clearly and slowly. Good for practicing pronunciation as well.

    "Skip this one"

I agree with the other reviewers, the Spanish speaker speaks too quickly. I speak poor "tourist" Spanish and had two years in school, but he lets his syllables run together (as in common with native/fluent speakers) such that I couldn't pick up one word from the next. Too hard to follow.
