"Pimsleur programs provide plenty of positive reinforcement that will keep learners on track, and we found that Pimsleur gave us more proficiency and confidence in speaking the new language than any of the other language programs we reviewed." (AudioFile magazine)
The learning format is very good. It flows from chapter to chapter at a well suited speed adding phrases or new words that build on previous chapters. Listening daily is recommended - great for trips to and from work!
I wouldnt listen to this all in one sitting. Once you complete a chapter or two since you are learning - you need the time for your brain to process and learn the new information in each chapter. They make this audiobook a good mental challenge and it does work out your mind which will need a rest :)
listen in the car to/from work and have used some of the conversation with Japanese co workers with success. Will be buying the second "pack" in the near future. Ja mata
"Excellent as a practice or for tourists"
This system is great as listening and speaking practice for those who only need some basics for tourism. The work is well presented, it's fun to follow and quite challenging in good way. I missed having written materials, and real explanations of the grammar. My fear is that without those you end up like a parrot, able to repeat things, but without much ability to create your own much past what you have been repeating. Also completely unable to read anything.
The method presents itself that way, and it does what its system suggests very well.
I gave it a 4 because, though I don't believe it should be your only resource if you really want to learn the language, it most certainly is an incredibly helpful one.
"great learning tool"
great learning tool to learn Japanese. will use again in the future. recommend to anyone wanting to learn Japanese
"Domo arigato gozai mas"
Easiest Learning System I found. The lessons are short and to the point. Repetitive but in a good way.
I thought this program was amazing and I learned so much. Getting The Next Series!
"Learning and understanding fast"
No story but the constant repetition helps, it repeats a lot which is great for anyone learning a new language you hear in an sentence, natively spoken and each long word broken down
"Best Japanese lessons"
I quickly learned Japanese phrases I can actually use. This technique really challenges your memory and reinforces what you have learned. I recommend it for basic conversational Japanese.
"Aimed to stick"
When I first listened to lesson one I thought there was no way I could ever pronounce the words but now I can easily recall five lessons worth if words.
Although probably best used in conjunction with other learning methods it does build your vocabulary. I listen and learn in the car as that is all the time I have at the moment. on to lesson 6 tomorrow.
Seemed good. All usefull information. I primarily use Rosetta stone so i find adding learning from alternative approaches usefull.
"I think it is easy to learn Japanese in this way"
Just finish first book and I think I can do a simple conversion with a native Japanese, I will continue with the next one.
