"I am almost useless with foreign languages, but can just about survive in Italian so was more than happy to try to learn the language, to more than just get by. This short course is grea,t the topics covered are not all encompassing, but because I already knew a little my skills blossomed quite quickly. Highly recommended." (John, Coventry)
"The approach is light-hearted and encouraging, keeping you motivated throughout the course. If you're completely new to Italian or just starting to learn the basics, you won't go wrong with this gentle introduction. Broken down into neat sections, you are eased in with basic greetings and essential words before moving onto more complicated sentences. The audio encourages you to repeat words out loud and listen to conversations to see how much you understand before they break it down for you. You're also told how to pronounce the words correctly in the proper Italian way!" (Ian, Cambridge)
This is a very impressive and well thought out introduction to learning Italian. The author, Clelia Boscolo, is clearly an accomplished teacher with the knack of being able to get inside the head of a beginner and the course is pitched at just the right level for the novice. The audio book is well structured and gives the listener the confidence to master the basic words and phrases before integrating them into spoken dialogue. Each section is broken down into easily digestible chunks and allows the listener to build his/her vocabulary at a pace to suit the individual. The particular strength of this recording for me is the opportunity to hear the language spoken by native Italian speakers- thereby allowing the listener to gain confidence in the pronunciation and intonation of words and phrases, there are useful summary sections at appropriate stages and the course is full of handy hints and tips too. In summary, I found this audio book to be very stimulating, highly motivating and, above all, fun! I would also recommend checking out other titles by Clelia Boscolo available from sister site Amazon UK.
