Summary

Surprise your friends! Astonish your family! With Pimsleur, you’ll be speaking and understanding like a native in no time. 30 minutes a day is all it takes. Indonesian Phase 1, Units 6-10 build on material taught in prior units. Each lesson provides 30 minutes of spoken language practice, with an introductory conversation, and new vocabulary and structures. Detailed instructions enable you to understand and participate in the conversation. Each lesson contains practice for vocabulary introduced in previous lessons. The emphasis is on pronunciation and comprehension, and on learning to speak Indonesian. This course teaches Standard Indonesian pronunciation as spoken in and around Jakarta. The first ten Units of Pimsleur's 30-Unit Indonesian Comprehensive Program, replaces the Compact Indonesian.

Critic reviews

"Pimsleur programs provide plenty of positive reinforcement that will keep learners on track, and we found that Pimsleur gave us more proficiency and confidence in speaking the new language than any of the other language programs we reviewed." ( AudioFile magazine)

Poor Story

I like the methodology but the story is a bit of a let down. Why would a beginner want to know how to ask a colleague if they want to have lunch with you?

Having said that, I'll probably buy the remaining units.

Good... in a way

This book is kind of good, but after doing two of the books and spending time in Indonesia, I've realised the other reviewers were correct. People do not speak like this, people will laugh at you constantly for speaking like this. You're doing an indonesian equivalent of walking around speaking like a ye olde gentlemen from the Victorian era. Duolingo is 10 times better and free.
