Surprise your friends! Astonish your family! With Pimsleur, you'll be speaking and understanding like a native in no time. Thirty minutes a day is all it takes.
German Level 1 Lessons 6-10 builds on material taught in prior units. Each lesson provides 30 minutes of spoken language practice, with an introductory conversation and new vocabulary and structures. Detailed instructions enable you to understand and participate in the conversation. Each lesson contains practice for vocabulary introduced in previous lessons. The emphasis is on pronunciation and comprehension and on learning to speak German. Reading lessons begin in unit ten and provide you with an introduction to reading German. These readings are designed to teach you to sound out words with correct pronunciation and accent.

"Pimsleur programs provide plenty of positive reinforcement that will keep learners on track, and we found that Pimsleur gave us more proficiency and confidence in speaking the new language than any of the other language programs we reviewed." (AudioFile magazine)
It added nicely to the previous lessons.
I like the woman Frau, because she is outgoing.
We had a good time saying dot druben and my daughter liked that Herr sounds like hair.
"Es ist sehr gutt!"
I hope I spelled that right.
This is the second set of units in pimslur's German course and I'm continuing to make progress. At this point I think I could ask any german speaking person to have a drink (wine, beer or coffee) with me at their or my place. So singles take note.
At the end of lesson 10 there is a written component at the end of each lesson; they recommend that you don't do this portion of the lesson while driving and I agree. There is an issue with accompanying PDF. You will need to download it from the page for unit 1-5 as it is incomplete from this page
"Can't download reference guide"
maybe if I can get the reference guide pdfs to download
The only reference guide i can download is the unit 1-5 instructions. I had a chat session and thought I had it fixed, but then realized it was not the real reference guide the audio book tells us to reference.
"Very good but would look at Michel Thomas first."
I did the Michel Thomas program years ago and found that it taught a good basic understanding of German sentence structure and grammar also using a method that didn't require reference books or rote memorization.
The Pimsleur method is very good, but having the background from Michel Thomas makes it better. I think they are really complimentary products rather than competing ones. I don't know why there are so many reviews that ask "where's the reading material"? The material is available for download in PDF format in your library.
