The 13 chapters of The Art of War, each devoted to one aspect of warfare, were compiled by the high-ranking Chinese military general, strategist, and philosopher Sun-Tzu. In spite of its battlefield specificity, The Art of War has found new life in the modern age with leaders in fields as wide and far-reaching as world politics, human psychology, and corporate strategy finding valuable insight in its timeworn words.
Aidan Gillen - who has learned a thing or two about strategy through his roles as skilled manipulator Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish (Game of Thrones) and ambitious politician Tommy Carcetti (The Wire) - brilliantly performs this ancient classic. His experience in portraying insightful and, at times, cunning characters makes him a natural fit for this ancient collection of battlefield epigrams whose influence has grown tremendously in the modern world.

Aiden Gillen does a great job of narrating this classic. Many are the transferable tactics, strategies and mindset towards any business, political or economic venture worth pursuing. Definitely worth investing in!
Great narration and very interesting book. Can be easily applied to social conditions within modern society. Some things are obvious and feels a like self help.. no stigma attached to this one though.. worth a listen!
Clear story and engaging narrative.
I was initially a little unsure of the Irish accent reading such an old piece of asian origin, raising questions of experiential authenticity. The delivery was so good however that these initial concerns were set aside. Very much enjoyed listening.

I am going to listen to it a secret time maybe even more. It's a very short audible with a lot on interesting information so it's a lot to take in. I think the second time I will be able to fully digest what is being expressed.
"Aidan Gillen needs to narrate more books"
The simplicity, the sensibility that Sun Tzu brought to chaotic war.
Please have Aidan Gillen narrate The Prince next, and really anything else. This man could read a phone book and I'd pay for it.
This ancient text may apply to many people's work. Anyone who works in a competitive environment can benefit from it, even if only a little. Even if you can't benefit from it, this work might help the listener to understand historical works dealing with wars better.
The reading is excellent. Aidan Gillen does a great job reading the text. I don't know if it's because I've been watching Game of Thrones for four seasons, but it sounds like he's using a kind of Littlefinger voice here, which adds to the effect. I'd recommend this audiobook to pretty much anyone, even if they don't have an army.
"Enjoyed this reading."
Enjoyed the reading. Very well presented!👍👍. Was thankful for the AUDIBLE 50% SPRING cleaning sale. Thank you for the presentation
"Clever and extremely enjoyable"
Stroke of genius having Aidan Gillen read Art of War. His gentle Irish brogue is tough yet alluring. And as a fan of GoT, I can see Littlefinger conspiring over this document and making these words his own. Well done!
"A classic text, read well"
This is a classic text and the narrator fit it well. If you are interested in strategy this is a required text.
"Much still applies today in the corporate world"
I didn't know what to expect when I began listening, but have been pleasantly surprised by how much of this book can still apply to today's corporate world. Knowing yourself as well as your enemy will allow you to win a thousand battles ... the five fatal flaws of a general ... how to treat your soldiers ... even the use of spies. Good stuff packed into a small book.
A great listen . The narrative was excellent, I did not lose interest or feel it was monotone.
the book is very well read. I had an easy time listening. Thank you Audible.
"Littlefinger brings it home"
Aidan Gillen delivers a great performance and keeps the listener interested and engaged through out the entire book!
A tale of wonder, godspeed Tsu, I applaud your life and words. May you always keep the high ground, even in death.
