In The Way of the SEAL, ex-Navy commander Mark Divine reveals exercises, meditations, and focusing techniques to train your mind for mental toughness, emotional resilience, and uncanny intuition. Along the way you'll reaffirm your ultimate purpose, define your most important goals, and take concrete steps to make them happen. A practical guide for businesspeople or anyone who wants to be an elite operator in life, this book will teach you how to: Lead from the front, so that others will want to work for you; Practice front-sight focus, the radical ability to focus on one thing until victory is achieved; Think offense, all the time, to eradicate fear and indecisiveness; Smash the box and be an unconventional thinker so you're never thrown off-guard by chaotic conditions; Access your intuition so you can make "hard right" decisions; Achieve twenty times more than you think you can - and much more.
Blending the tactics he learned from America's elite forces with lessons from the Spartans, samurai, Apache scouts, and other great warrior traditions, Divine has distilled the fundamentals of success into eight powerful principles that will transform you into the leader you always knew you could be. Learn to think like a SEAL, and take charge of your destiny at work, home and in life.

Brilliant guide to setting and executing goals. I found the pdf supplement very useful on daily, monthly and annual reviews. Also excellent guide on mindset adjustment
The only issue with this book is that the author isn't next to you, however, he may as well be! Truly inspiring stories of failure and success and the right attitude for both
Excellent book, author seems like a bit of a legend to me. Can't find the pdf material though on my iPhone.
There is a lot of good material in this. Presented in an informative and thought provoking manner. Good stories to re-enforce the messages and techniques. Good listening.
i have been going through a lot of self supporting books lately and i found the reviews of this book to be misleading. I do find the author's experience quite amazing; howeger his book is incredibly boring to listen too. Lots of self promotion, just makes me believe that he is a little to in love with himself and accomplishments to the point of narcissism.
The seal experience is quite fascinating and would not mind investing more time in further understanding of how to achieve a similar mindset. not worth the money, may find better lessons in other less self worshipping books
This book is full of practical and battle tested methods to put yourself in control of your life goals and lead the way to mastery!
The book is to be practiced rather than read, but I guarantee that if you train these skills and use them in your life you will grow immeasurably!
It's all here, so up to you to make it happen! Good luck
A great book just a little bit different. Marks approach to "life coaching" comes with a fresh take on things which is what you want and want you'll get. It's a book that as you listen you'll want to have a notebook beside you. He argues very well that it's unadvisable for you to neglect any of the three core parts of yourself for you to achieve your potential. Physical, Spiritual and Mental (at least that's what I got from it). It maybe a book that I'll have to consider getting a hard copy as well!
Absolutely loved this book, I listened to it straight while travelling, and it is the first time a book gets me so pumped up! I cant wait to re listen to it from the beginning and take notes. plus there is so many exercises to do in every chapter!
"An absolute must read"
This book is a must read for anyone who is serious about taking his or her own personal development to the next levels. In my own opinion, the author outlines and describes very practical and world-class methodologies to take control of your mind and drive yourself to peak performance. The book delivers the outline of a complete life mastery system.
Be conscious that reading this book will not directly solve your puzzle, but if you follow the instructions and do the work, I feel that the proscribed action steps will help you breakthough and acheive the majority of what you want to accomplish in life.
What you will find in this book is literally worth thousands of dollars. Notwithatanding the value of unleashing your own power, the USN have spent billions training elite performers like Cmdr Divine and you are able to access the cliff notes of that investment - basically for free.
I am a big fan of Robbins, Dyer and Rohm. The content is easily on-par with these other incredible peak performance coaches. See also Capt Marcincko's non-fiction works to further understand the genesis and evolution of the Seal Mindset.
Thou shalt not fail! Buy this today and clear the deck to take your performance from average to elite!
"How to think and live like a Modern Samurai."
Most people think the Samurai were just warriors, but they prided themselves on being well educated and thoughtful. CDR. Divine does an exceptional job at presenting a modern version of striving to be not just "above average" but to be elite and committed to self-mastery.
And this isn't just for men. I have instilled these same ideas in my daughters as well as my employees, both men and women.
A commitment to excellence is NOT gender specific.
"Embrace the suck!"
The audio edition is easy to listen and the narrator is doing a great job, but it is hard if you actually want to do the exercises. The pdf that comes along is just not very complete, so in the end one has to constantly bookmark the important sections or re-listen to it.
There are several great concepts described in the book that make it very valuable. For example the concept of "Embrace the suck!" You just don't get the same personal growth by going always the easy way. You have to challenge yourself and that is going to be hard, but ultimately very rewarding.
"Living your life optimally"
One of the best sources of self mastery and life enhancing skills I have seen.
"Im so glad I got this book because I almost didnt"
If I can ever get my hands around the throats of the fools who have poor ratings to this book...
I almost missed this one because i read a couple reviews that said it wasn't what they expected.. Blah blah blah.
This is a book that literally has the potential to change your life in a huge way. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar or has an ulterior motive!!
I will draw so much from this!!
"Chew the meat but spit out the occultic bones."
Chew the meat but spit out the occultic bones. Some great practical tools and examples but encourages spirit guides and astral projection.
"Good System for Self Improvement"
Having been in the U.S. Navy, I can relate to Mark Devine's Way of the SEAL (WOS) philosophy. He gives readers a viable system for improving one's physical, emotional and mental strength, utilizing the terminology used in the Navy. I recommend listening to the audiobook while on long solitary jogs and following his system of self-improvement through self-reflection. With dedication, one will definitely see positive gains. The best parts of his WOS system are the sections on meditation and creative visualization, two essential components to accomplishing one's goals. The fact that Devine covers these areas extensively and returns to them again, reassures me that he knows what he's talking about. This book doesn't seem like a trendy self-help book, but a practical philosophy associated with a system that actually works. If you're skeptical, just look at the successes of the US Navy SEALS. Get the book and the audiobook. Study it and watch yourself improve. You won't regret it.
"Not a stand-alone book.m"
While covering some interesting concepts, this is not one which I recommend as an audiobook. The exercises should be read and practiced. Furthermore, this book is really part of a set. In order to benefit, you would also have to read (not merely listen to) "Unbeatable Mind" and Mark's Sealfit book.
"Its a different type of self help it."
I loved it and it takes some not taking and focused but by the end of the day it will change you as long as you put in the effort.
"This could change my life"
best part of this book his house yet helps incorporate structure with faith-based goals. The power of visualization, goal setting, discipline and belief systems may very well change my life.
