I have a bad reaction to caffeine myself. I've gotten headaches, stay awake for hours, and it is very addicting. This is a book can back up the facts what it does to the body. I highly recommend it to those that want a high peak performance brain and body.
We can't perform at our best if our body and brain aren't functioning 100%. Everyone needs to read this and become aware of the side effects of caffeine.
I believe in the Holistic Approach and Keeping the body pure and clean. I haven't come across to many books that get into as many details.

It was just a great reminder to myself why I don't need to drink caffeine.
It's a great book to bring awareness to others and explain why we can't perform at our best under the influence of caffeine.
Gosh, where do I start. I am half way through listening to The Truth About Coffee, and to pause to share my thoughts. Its scary to think of the internal damage drinking coffee does to our body. The author cites research and statistical evidence and anti-dotes to share her concerns about the effect caffeine has on us, and it isnt a pretty picture. I am only half way through so am curious to find out more and hopefully see what alternatives the author offers. But if you are an ardent coffee drinker, this book may well change your daily coffee habit!
This is a non-fiction book/audio, therefore no favourite character.
Story is convincing but lacks enough scientific studies. Sounds more like a claim than facts.
"A dire warning for caffeine abusers"
The over abundance of anecdotal evidence does not lend itself to a reference utility nor is it fascinating story telling. Most people do not consider themselves abusers, but the addictive qualities of coffee's caffeine delivery should not be ignored.
The effect of presenting only the dark side of caffeine's efficacy was amply illustrated by the cancer scare of the eighties. As with most moderate stimulants, prudent analyses suggests little or no causal connection to the disease if taken in moderation.
clarity, precision, easy listening
I became dulled by the long list of anecdotal findings. Not clear where the book was headed or why it was organized this way.
Needs more stream lining. Coffee is bad for its abusers is hardly a headline. A more balanced presentation (e.g. good points about caffeine) would allow the reader to make a more effective judgement.

I can honestly say I learned a whole lot about caffeine while listening to this audio. I am a daily coffee drinker and had no idea about the effects of caffeine on the body. As woman I especially found the information about caffeine and its effects on women’s bodies very informative.
Additionally, the reference studies use/given in the audio were eye-opening and easy to understand. If you are a person who likes resource detail you will find a great deal of them here. The case studies used are very informative.
Also I found the “voice – narrative - person -” easy to listen to. I was not bored and I would recommend this audio greatly.
My favorite part was the information about caffeine effects on women’s bodies. I had no idea that there was a connection.

"To be taken with a grain of salt"
This book is extremely informative. However, the author is very biased and I am really not convinced on the validiy of most of the claims. For example there is a part about how fluoride is bad for you, hoewever, it has been shown that fluoride has many benefits for the overall health and is not harmful at all. Another example is at some point the author says how bad vitamin C defeciency is. Which is true, but there hasnt been a case of severe vitamin C deficiency since at least a hundred years ago. I might be wrong about all this but just take this book with a grain of salt. With all that being said, it's very informative and i recommend it. It warns about many dangers that are very real about caffeine.
"Made me convert to tea, so I am happy..."
This audio-book was great at repeating the side effects of too much caffeine consumption repeatedly, repeatedly, repeatedly. Dehydration, diarrhea, headaches, dependency, and the list goes on. There do seem to be lot of drawback to drinking more than the ONE CUP BLACK COFFEE PER DAY recommendation, which few actually follow.
Although there was no real backing or references in the claims, hearing the first half of the audiobook made me sick of coffee, something I never though possible. I went from 3-4 cups of office coffee daily to 0.
I didn't make it through the whole book, but it was effective at converting me to drinking green tea daily....ultimately, it did its job. So thank you, Marina.
"Helped me break my coffee habit"
This book is great. It offers a detailed analysis of coffee and caffeine influence on your body and life. The book has references to multiple scientific studies and experiments designed to find the truth about caffeine. I like the honesty - when study didn't reveal the connection between coffee/caffeine and health issues, the author clearly indicates that. The chapter about kids and their soft drink dependency due to the caffeine is very important and must read for anyone who cares about his kids.
I would recommend this book to all parents and everyone who wants to be healthy and free from coffee addiction. And yes - the book helped me quit, although I was drinking no more than 2 cups of coffee per day.

I will recommend this book to my clients. I like how the format, gives details and explanations in an orderly fashion. Easy to understand for people that aren't real knowledgeable about anatomy, health or caffeine.

The logic presented is clear, there is no doubt about the message. The 2nd half can get boring, he throws too many numbers and statistics in the room. Nevertheless, the message is clearly communicated in the first half, no harm done by letting the bored mind wander toward the end.
The amount of information that is provided in this audible book is astounding. Myself and family members learned so much! I guess it's safe to say that many Americans out there (including myself) don't have a clue concerning the affects of caffeine on the body. It's scary!

I knew a lot before listening this audio book but I also learned some new things. If you want to find out the truth about caffeine this audio book is for you. Don't be left in the dark because it could save your life. Being a self-help book it wasn't boring like most.
