Publisher's Summary

Getting older can be brutal: women gain weight, lose their sex drive, experience hot flashes, suffer memory loss, and on and on. After years of being thin and fit and full of energy, Suzanne herself encountered the "Seven Dwarfs of Menopause": Itchy, Bitchy, Sweaty, Sleepy, Bloated, Forgetful, and All-Dried-Up. Instead of living out the rest of her life cranky, sleep-deprived, and libido-less, Suzanne set out to discover how she could get her mind, body, and life back and banish those pesky dwarfs for good.

The result is The Sexy Years. In this passionately argued and enormously practical book, Suzanne supports her own research and experiences with the expertise of leading doctors in the field of women's and men's health and sexuality to create an inspiring, accessible call-to-arms to women to radically rethink how they approach life after fifty, and give them the tools to turn their lives around.

Suzanne has discovered that the second half of life has been more rewarding, fun, and purposeful than her younger years. The key to her happiness? Taking natural bioidentical hormones. The Sexy Years provides a step-by-step plan and detailed information about how women can take control of their health, for themselves and for their men.

With bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, Suzanne has found the fountain of youth, the elixir that has made her feel thirty years old again. The beauty of growing older, she maintains, is that you can combine the wisdom of age with the vitality of youth. Suzanne makes it perfectly clear how women and men can regain their zest for life at any age. These really are the sexy years!

    "Thank you Suzanne!"

My life has gotten so much better since starting on bioidentical hormones. What is even surprising to me is my Nurse Practioner in the womens clinic at the Air Force Base actually knew all about bioidentical hormones and was more than happy to accomodate. This is wonderful, and I'm so much happier now...

    "Thank You, Suzanne!"

Perhaps too technical for an audio book, I still have to say THANK YOU! Trying to talk to a doctor about some of these issues is not easy - most mumble and hem-haw around the entire issue ? then write a prescription for an anti-depressant and HRT. This confirms what I've thought for years and cannot get any doctor I've seen to agree to - we need bio-identical hormones all of our lives. It is truly sad that the medical profession is driven by the pharmaceutical companies to sell those man-made hormones. I am now empowered with questions, definite decisions, and information to find another doctor! I highly recommend this book to any woman OR man who is trying to figure out what is going on with menopause. BTW - I'm going to buy the hardback on this and take it to the next doctor with me!

"Levothyroxine a natural hormone??? Really Suzanne?"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Ok, let it be known I've always adored Chrissy, I meant Suzanne Somers which started when I was a young child who watch Three's Company faithfully. Heck even in my 40's I could watch a marathon of that show today. Thats how much I loved it and her as my favorite character. However, I'm really disturbed that in this audio book, Mrs. Somers clearly stated that Levothyroxine is a natural hormone. YES, you read that right! In chapter one she stated this blatant falsehood and I was in shock and disbelief. So much so that I had to rewind the recording 4 times to make sure I heard her correctly. I even bookmarked it so I could let someone else hear it so I could make sure my ears weren't deceiving me. Anyone can easily google this drug and find out in a millisecond that this medication is more synthetic than Dolly Parton's breast. This drug has caused a lot of problems for people (even death) and what's also shocking is that she bashes the Armour <sp? Thyroid (which is considered a natural thyroid hormone) by essentially saying it's no good for you. Maybe it's just me, but when someone starts lying right off the cuff ( especially when it's an obvious easy lie to prove), it is very difficult to continue viewing the person as a credible source. I mean I'm really trying to get through the rest of this book, but it's a challenge because now I'm suspect of anything that comes from Suzanne's mouth. I wish someone would comment on my post with a good rationale as to why Mrs. Somers would blatantly lie like this in public on a recording. I mean was Levothyroxine a natural hormone for a very brief moment in time when she wrote this book??? I really wanna belief in her again, but I'm having trouble when she has no regard for speaking verifiable mistruths.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Im uncomfortable listening to her now so I don't know if I'll ever listen again

Which character – as performed by Suzanne Somers – was your favorite?

    Suzanne

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    I like Suzanne Somers

    Any additional comments?

    No.
