Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
There's never been a better time to set new habits. This book will change your life.
Why do we do develop habits? And how can we change them?
We can always change. In The Power of Habit, award-winning New York Times business reporter Charles Duhigg translates cutting-edge behavioural science into practical self-improvement action, distilling advanced neuroscience into fascinating narratives of transformation.
Why can some people and companies change overnight and some stay stuck in their old ruts? The answer lies deep in the human brain, and The Power of Habits reveals the secret pressure points that can change a life. From Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps to Martin Luther King Jr., from the CEO of Starbucks to the locker rooms of the NFL, Duhigg explores the incredible results of keystone habits and how they can make all the difference between billions and millions, failure and success – or even life and death.
The Power of Habit makes an exhilarating case: the key to almost any door in life is instilling the right habit. From exercise to weight loss, child-rearing to productivity, market disruption to social revolution and above all success, the right habits can change everything.
Habits aren't destiny. They’re science, one which can transform our businesses, our communities and our lives.
Critic reviews
"It’s a fascinating insight into making and breaking habits and offers practical advice, funny stories and critical thinking." (Press Association)
"Plenty of business books that try to tap into the scientific world manage to distil complicated research into readable prose. But few take the next step and become essential manuals for business and living. The Power of Habit is an exception." (Andrew Hill, Financial Times)
"Full of great ideas" (Evening Standard)

Depends what you’re looking for
I found this book interesting in some parts but it wouldn’t make me get up and go. You would think things through more but your need to re-listen every so often so take clips of the parts that will help you

invaluable information
This will give you a handle and insight in your automations and lets you steer them and thus your life according to your own motivations. Whatever drives your own motivations is another book i guess. Excellent stuff thoroughly enjoyed the book and the kind of side trail stories. The book was excellently written and told by both the author and narrator. Thank you for this gem of knowledge

20% was helpful
the first couple of chapters were original and helpful. The remaining examples used a crowbar to claim the approach worked.

This is my first audible book. Its about habits and i created a new one whilst listening. Some of the example stories are longwinded but I did find the book interesting

Really insightful
This book really helps to understand how habit works. Author has done the great job by going through scientific researches and put it very nicely. Enjoyed narrator too. Definitely 5 🌟.

Buy the book
This is a well-recorded audiobook. The narrator has a very listenable voice (apart from when he pretends to be a woman -- cringe: no need). The problem is the material itself. It's full of filler. What your eyes would probably happily glide over on the page is so annoying to listen to. Reams of descriptive writing that feels like it's there to get to the word count. An example: he writes about a record being placed in the playlist of a radio station in a particular way -- and then the whole playlist is read out. And then ANOTHER playlist -- aaarrgggh. Also worth noting that if you're listening to this hoping to get lots of practical advice on how to break/change habits, you might be disappointed. There's some of that in here, but Atomic Habits might suit you better. That said, lots of interesting stuff here, if you don't mind lots -- and lots -- and lots -- of filler.

Loved it! A must read!
This book really helps understand why we do the things we do and why we find it difficult to break those habits. I will definitely recommend this book.
