"I got a DO OVER"
My education of an apology was, "say your sorry, and do you accept the apology"! Thank God for this book. I have learned why I WAS how I WAS and how to fix it. This book explained, taught and encouraged me. I implemented the knowledge immediately and my husband and family are reaping the benefits. My husband actually said, "Wow, you really are changing and trying". I was able to apologize for the past lack of knowledge and know how to apologize. After my excitement I decided to make it a family study. As a family we listened to the Chapters describing the languages, finding your own and apologizing yourself. We made sure that we all knew each other's apology languages and established if we NOW didn't apologize the correct way that we didn't mean the apology. This has been a real blessing to ME, my family and friends. Thank you so much and God bless you, for you have made a legacy for yourself that is surely making your Heavenly Father proud!
I listened to this audio because my friend says I have a hard time letting go of the past. I realized that was true and I partially knew why. After reading this book, I realized exactly why I get that uneasy feeling when I receive an apology after feeling betrayed. The best thing about this book is that it helps you understand what you need to hear or see to forgive a person. I think everyone should read this book solely for the purpose of learning to give a good apology. Apologies are definitely understated and I'm glad Gary and Jennifer wrote such a detailed book about giving and receiving them.
This book truly changed my life! I wish I would've had it years ago, but I do believe that God has His timing for everything and this book is right on time for me. As a school administrator, I will be incorporating this into what I do with my students and my staff as well as adding information from it in the book that I'm currently working on. It should be a book that everyone reads and I don't say that about most of the books that I read. This will truly open the door to changing your life if you are willing to accept that you may need to apologize for some things that you've done. I have began my quest and it is truly liberating. Many blessings--
I never though or knew that there could be a difference in Way we forgive - thank you Dr Gary for another great book - this is my 8th book I have listened to- in my chiropractic clinic I am able to share many of your teachings and see the blessings as people's and family's life's change - being a Christian & a chiropractor I am able to touch many lives and your teachings are a blessing and have helped me raise my 4 children 10/11/13/14- and learn their love languages - my dad died when I was 16 and took his life with suicide and coming to Christ and finding a Heavenly Father was a journey- since then God has used me many times to pray and change lives - I love to give credit when credit is due - Dr Chapman you have changed and impacted my life and I am grateful- thanks Steve
"mostly self promotion"
The book was mostly self promoting fluff, with about 30 minutes worth of actual information.
A Great encouragement for anyone with
damaged or broken relationships. We all could use some help in this area!
"Basic training everyone should complete"
Relationships, family, & friends...tell them all it's a must read! Training everyone should get that I'd rarely taught.
"helpful book! thank you!
I was struggling to understand why my apologies were not being accepted... this explains it!
Forgiveness and Love go hand in hand. We can't know one without the other. We can't grow or be at peace with ourselves or our spouses if we carry unforgiveness in our hearts.
Excellent tools and insight on overcoming anger, bitterness and unforviveness.
I also recommend "The 5 Love Languages"
as always, Chapman does a great job reading his books. the stories were not as helpful to me as the 5 love language stories.
with that said, it is still a very important subject and the first part of the book is an absolute must read...the parts on forgiveness and teaching people to apologize may be helpful for other but wasn't that helpful to me...but i was taught to apologize and i learned about forgiveness when i was younger.
overall a very important subject and everyone should be aware of the different languages people use for apologies.
