It was very easy to process the whole idea of the 5:2 diet in listening form, and it reiterated what was set out in the book and on the t.v. version very succinctly.
No characters in this book, just Micheal's common sense tone, backed up by Mimi.
Having read the book i knew the idea behind the premise , but the chapters on the medical side i;e diabetes got my husband who has just been diagnosed with type 2 listening. It somehow was easier to take it all on board.
Yes, it is not a long book an although i had to break in the middle went back to it as soon as I could, rewinding it to get the relevant parts repeated

This book is excellent and extremely interesting, however because of the nature of the book - with one often needing to skim back to a page - or look up something - I prefer the hard copy that I have on my kindle. Having said that, it is excellent overall because of its attention to the scientific information backing up the theory.
I listened to this book whilst sunbathing! It was a perfect way to reinforce what I already knew!

I had bought the paperback of this book but found it hard to concentrate on the scientific and technical bits.

I am a professional with a very busy working life. Audio books allow me to pursue my passion for reading without the usual time constraints.
After years of dieting without success, I stopped believing in diets completely and viewed them as a waste of time.
This book has changed all that and comes with a high recommendation not just from me, but from friends and family who have also tried it. It has a sensible and practical approach and has revolutionized the way I think about what and when I eat. So far, after only three weeks, I have lost 6lbs, an inch off my waist and an inch and a half off my rear.
More importantly, I am changing my eating habits in an almost unconscious way and naturally opting for better food choices. I feel more vibrant, alive and in tune with my body.
I no longer fear being hungry and though I had initial misgivings about the fast days, I find them much easier now and almost look forward to them.
Perhaps I would compare it to "Be a free Range Human". Although these titles are about very different subjects, there are similarities.
For example, the direct and no nonsense approach that both these books have and the fact that they give simple practical solutions which are easy to understand and implement in our busy lives.
There is no "flannel", no, " going round the houses". These books just both get right in there and advise you what to do.
I liked Michael Moseley's scientific input. As a health professional, it helped me process the facts and make sense of them. I found his narration a little "news-readerish" which was a bit off-putting, but it did not detract too much from the content.
Mimi gave a very refreshing and almost impish flavour to the book. I enjoyed listening to her. More importantly, she gave lots of practical tips and advise which for me, rounded off and complemented the science.
Well I don't know how I could make this into a film, really, but I wish I had seen the documentary which was made last year.
Buy this book if you are serious about getting healthy and losing weight. By far the most sensible, practical and successful approach I have ever known.
The book sets out the science behind fasting and the positive impact it can have on your life. It contains practical advice on making it work for you.
The health benefits are eye opening, fasting appears to be a solution to some of the biggest killers in the western world.
If losing weight is your thing then this approach contains no drugs, no ready meals, no diet clubs and no charge and it's sustainable.

I can see how this book will help many people. Perhaps not super active types due to calorific need and hormones making fasting tricky - but office types absolutely this will really help control weight & health. If you are in a chair all day, a bit older, carrying some health issues and thus cannot exercise much - here is your diet.
I dont have to read the book. And knowing that not eating for a while is actually healthy, and not what i have been used to hearing from Doctors ect..
Mimi Spencers voice and reading was great. I love her voice.
It made me feel great. Because now i have the knowledge to lose that extra weight ,once and for all.
