This was a bit basic for what I was looking for - common sense really! Found the voice sweet but very twee and thus got very irritating towards the end.

Cheryl gives real life applicability to how challenging it can be to take care of ourselves and she shares alot of her own personal story and how she recognized the traps and worked out of them.
she is real and really talented in conveying it to a person like me.
The best part of this book is the real life guidance about how to establish and communicate boundaries.

This is uplifting and informative, as others have mentioned, but I hoped for something a little more useful for my own life. Even tho I am a female, I preferred the thoroughness of the info (and delivery) in Drop Dead Healthy by AJ Jacobs. Laughter is GREAT for your health, and he really made me laugh! That's more my style since I am more recalcitrant in my health practices.

suddenly understand myself in a brand new. I proudly embrace & know better now how to protect myself as the highly sensitive person that I am. As I took some time yesterday to reflect I realized that I hate bright lights/never turned them on in my office or bedroom, I loathe mean spirited comments & tend to shy away from crowds. I hated being sensitivity & saw it as a weakness. But no more...my sensitivity is my greatest gift & it has got me to where I am today & has made me a great leader. How I see it, the benefits of my sensitivity has led me to become more deeply connected to nature, the ocean, music, art, & people. It is now translating into a keen & unique ability to be able discern people's needs. With the blink of an eye, slight shift in tone of voice, I often can tell what someone is thinking. This ability is developing overtime into a fine tuned intuitive knowing as a mother, teacher & leader. I embrace being highly sensitive- honoring myself-being aware.
The only draw back is that the book seem to target female readers---totally exempting male audience. So many men are in need of understanding self care.

"Very good advice"
Cheryl Richardson presented her work very well. She was very knowledgeable of the subject. She provides excellent advice for people such as to slow down, not get so overwhelmed that you don't take care of yourself. She also provides challenges each month that you can do to help take better care of yourself. I think if most people would follow that sort of program they would tend to have better health and a better state of mind.
