Depends. If they are a Spartan Racer I would, but for a coach potato I might recommend Joe's previous book Spartan Up! first.
Well I got my triple Trifecta this year and raced in 10 events. I am 9th in the 60-64 age group so lets just say I am into the whole zeitgeist of the Spartan approach. This book provides good insight into what it takes to adopt this lifestyle and its benefits. Anyone can run a Spartan Race and you owe it to yourself to at least try one and find out what you are made of.
I enjoyed Joe's explanation of the Agoge and the history behind it. Never knew that and it made me want to read The Road to Sparta by Dean Karnaze
I had heard the story of the disabled runner second hand. I particpated in an event with her in Penn. It was mind boggling to me to hear the story of what really happened to her. For this reason people should read this book, you will complain less about your own life.
American needs to get fit. Not just for the health benefits for our collective mental sanity.
"Great Spartan Race introduction"
Great explanation about Spartan Race's foundation, philosophy and workout plans. Good listen for anyone interested in learning about the their organization and for those that have been running the races.
This book, along with Spartan Up!, are truly inspirational and life changing. I have read them both twice in one day. Each time learning more and trying to soak of the wealth of knowledge they provide. If you're looking for a book that offers real life advice as well as a program to get you into the best shape of your life while having loads of fun, this is it.
"Pdf is lacking"
Good book, but the pdf is lacking the main 30 Day program, so this may be a book better bought in print. That being said, it is good so do read it.
