"Exactly what I was looking for"
I was looking for a resource that would help me develop as a DM. I had been a DM for years doing the same thing over and over. I felt like something was missing but couldn't figure out what it was. This book helped.
"great information for new and old DMS"
good for dms new and old. a must read for gamers of any experience. techniques taught in this book will make your game 5x better
"SUCH A GOOD RESOURCE"
This is a great guide for any DM who feels like they're putting too much work in to the game with too little reward. It gives great bulleted guidelines for keeping it simple and relying on the NPCs and PCs to flesh out the setting on the fly.
Another DM friend suggested this and was not disappointed. Advocates "Be Like Water" D&D- kun-do.
"useful and quick"
i liked it, had useful tips for running a session with minimal prep time, that is.literally what the book is all about
Even if we all have our own style this book gives loght to new & interesting ideas!
"this is just what I needed"
I've been doing since the 1970s and tend to over prepare. the methods within this book seem promising, and look like they will bring back spontaneity and make my life easier. plus this book is very enjoyable
"Required read for any DM"
Short and to the point. This book reminds you that preparing a game does not have to be a 20 hour process. The author gives lots of great advice and resources plus the text is VERY up-to-date.
"A Bit Dated, But Still Great Advice"
The advice in this book is really solid and easy to follow. And the book is short enough to listen to multiple times to get the lessons to sink in.
Unfortunately the book was written prior to 5E, but the advice is general enough to help with DMing any game. The focus is really on how to be flexible and build easy and lazy tools to make running both sandboxy and module games easier. Also good advice on how to keep your more sandboxy games from getting lost!
"Helpful tips for Dungeon Masters"
As a DM who is often overwhelmed by the amount of prep work associated with bringing a module to to table in a competent manner, I found this book has a lot of helpful information about how to reduce some of the things that eat up a lot of time and don't provide a lot of in-game payoff. Also, the book gets to the point and doesn't waste a lot of time. At under 3 hours, it's not a huge time investment to get the knowledge it offers.
-1 star as it refers to a pdf a number of times that is supposed to be supplied with this audiobook that you never receive with Audible. It doesn't hamper things too much, but it really would have been nice to have.
