Summary
Life loves you, and you have the power within you to create a life you love. "Life loves you" is one of Louise Hay's best-loved affirmations. It is the heart thought that represents her life and her work. Together Louise and Robert Holden look at what "life loves you" really means - that life doesn't just happen to you; it happens for you.
In a series of intimate and candid conversations, they dig deep into the power of love, the benevolent nature of reality, the friendly universe, and the heart of who we really are. Life Loves You is filled with inspiring stories and helpful meditations, prayers, and exercises. Louise and Robert present a practical philosophy based on seven spiritual practices.
Key themes covered:
- The Mirror Principle - practicing the how of self-love
- Affirming Your Life - healing the ego's basic fear
- Following Your Joy - trusting your inner guidance
- Forgiving the Past - reclaiming your original innocence
- Being Grateful Now - cultivating basic trust
- Learning to Receive - being undefended and open
- Healing the Future - choosing love over fear

I forced myself to listen up to chapter 4
I just could not bear to listen to the banal, cute, softly spoken and over-emotional delivery any more.
The work may have good content, but it's obscured by the vomity delivery.
I think it is unprofessional for the author to read his, or her, own factual work and put their emotional "spin" on it. This is a book aimed at self-help, not a "listen to my stories and feel as I do browbeating session". I so didn't need to have the author steamroller me into his emotional take, totally ruined it for me. (He said in his soft, genuinely caring and - with a slight smile - loving voice..., barf).
Feel properly done out of my hard earned money. Grrrrrrrr

A Workbook that transforms from the inside out
In spite of being Very fond of Robert Holden and Louise Hay and how they change the world one moment big or small at a time, I admit that ' little I' initially thought it was too sweet. Then committing 100%: the inquiring exercises are amazing and are now recreating a big peaceful space in me, who habitually is pacing to do and be the best mostly.
Note: It is a workbook to revisit many times. So note timing of the listening edition where exercises start as the wording is important.

Excellent discourse with Louise Hay
I really enjoyed this book. Basically, it is a discourse between Robert Holden (RH) and Louise Hay (LH). I think it is better when an author does the narrating themselves, as it gives more meaning and authority to the content. RH does an excellent job in interweaving quotations, his own antidotes and stories with the main transcript of time he spent with LH. At the time of writing LH was in her mid-eighties and approaching the latter stages of her life. She died of natural causes in her sleep aged 90 in 2017. Although LH had officially 'retired' when the book was written the content is a fascinating insight into her beliefs and summary of how she approached life. I didn't know just how difficult things had been for her as a child and the bit about her enduring her stepfather's sexual abuse and swallowing poisonous berries aged 9 was quite shocking. However, bad I thought my own upbringing was, this book really put things into context. Her own parent's childhoods weren't great and she states (without condoning bad behavior) that they couldn't teach her anything they didn't know. 'Resentment only eats away at the self' she points out. Her commitment to affirmations was amazing and RH tells the reader that after studying the work of Florence Scovel Shinn and Ernest Holmes (Church of Religious Science) plus others, she literally taught her self how to think and speak differently. Her message of forgiveness and understanding is an inspiration to all.
