For years I've felt cursed because of my social anxiety disorder and I almost gave up hope. Since nothing had helped me before, I thought this audio book wouldn't be much different, but THANK God it is! I learned some new ways on how to process negative emotions better and how to stop repeating negative thoughts over and over. I re-listened it a couple of times and now I worry a lot less and feel much more confident in social situations. I am very happy that I gave this book a chance.
Inspiring, thoughtful and confidence
That's a toughie, not read any books like this most concentrate not on why but more how to fix a problem. So the solution is still built on sand and not the solid rock needed for true progression
She brings across the sensitivity and emphasis on the parts of the book you need to pay more attention to than normally
Let go and be yourself without guilt
I personally found it to be hugely beneficial. This book helped me so much to let go of a generally negative feeling I had much of my life. It was not an overnight cure and it did take work on my behalf too but i am just relieved to finally found a book full of practical actionable advice and not just endless tests! Really recommend this book, it would appeal to a wide range of people.
Really useful book. This book is about freeing yourself of hate and sadness and how to really enjoy life freely. It teaches you how to be your best and complete self without embarrassment. You have to let go of these 3 things in order to be happy in life. This book teaches you how to do that. Don't think about your mistakes. Learn and move forward. This is reitrerated time and time again. Freeing yourself from anxiety and doing new things is also touched upon in detail. Overall a solid book for anyone looking to grow. I highly recommend it to all my friends and family. I liked how easy and quick it was to implement the advice given. Thanks!
No more worries.
I loved how the book was so inspiring and positive. I could just keep on listening all day long and still not be bored. I got away from my sad and depressed self who I loathe at the moment the moment I was done listening to the last sentence.
She was calm, composed with her performance and her soothing voice was perhaps the reason to this book becoming even better than the written version so I really recommend it to every person out there.
To be all honest here, I did listen all night long after I was regretting because of one tiny little mistake, made me forget all about it. Worked like a charm
I really recommend everyone, even if anyone's not even close to a nervous breakdown to listen and enjoy the soothing words of the narrator. It really is a happy book so don't be shy, I myself am sending some copies to a few friends and family.
Everyone wants to be happy. In this book, Jennifer Alison will guide you on a journey of 3 powerful steps towards creating the happiness you desire by changing your thoughts, realizing you always have choices and learning how to manifest your dreams.
This is an excellent self-help book that I think would be useful for anyone who feels that they have lost their way in life a little. It is very easy to read and you can dip in and out of it as you wish. Very engaging from the beginning and has some excellent therapeutic techniques to help readers connect with feelings of happiness.
This book is inspirational, heart-felt and gives readers many keys to finding lasting happiness. Highly recommended!
Wonderful book. Slightly different from other books in this often over-subscribed genre, which was a huge relief. Really gave me some valuable insight and more importantly than that it gave me some practical advice and tips i could begin to implement immediately to help me move on with life. Fantastic book, thanks to the author, i will be listening to this again and again.
Wise. Up-lifting. Encouraging.
This book is bound to become a personal improvement classic. It has a way of simplifying life, helping you reach for lightness and let go of darkness. The theory is that by holding on to worry, embarrassment, and regret, you're keeping yourself rooted in the past and the future, rather than living life in the present. Jennifer Alison explores common thoughts and behavioural patterns that hold us back from true happiness. For me, the sections on worry and embarrassment were the most helpful. I've been crippled with worry and panic attacks for most of my life and I've found that my fear of embarrassment has only increased my worry over the years! Learning how to let go of embarrassment (and how to stop replaying embarrassing moments over and over in my head) has already had a profound effect on me. And now that I've learned how to let go of my panic attacks and worry, I am truly so much happier. What a great book!
I only have it on audio sorry!
Much of the second half of the book. It hit me hard to be honest. It felt like i was finally getting proper advice that helped.
Well she had a lovely clear voice, but i just prefer audiobooks especially for this genre. Just easier to listen to this anywhere (such as when driving).
I wanted to for sure but i did it over 5 or 6 listens as i had to keep going away to think about what i was hearing and how it applied to my life.
Genuinely a fantastic book and one i am very very grateful for.
How easy it was to follow, how easy it was to put all the advice into action.
I had been recommended this by many people. And now i am very very happy to recommend it to more people and i hope it helps you in life as much as it has helped me.
"Amazing book, was worth my time."
I can not compete it with others book, it was amazing in its own way. the result matters the most, which was very satisfying.
Sorrel Brigman delivered each word with a soft and loving tone. she narrated the book in a very impressive way.
I regretted my entire life because of one dreadful decision. I lost everything. it made my life turn upside down. afterwards, trust was least of my concern, anger, anxiety, being worried, living in a regret, holding a grudge, these were the aspects of my life. it was deteriorating. I used to wear a forced smile 24/7.
This audio book changed me from inside, now I try to see the life positively, with a real smile. what I learned is life is not a piece of cake, it will throw things at us, it is up to us how we cope with them, and the best answer I received is with a smile. my attitude towards others entirely changed, I am polite, calm, could trust people. it lighted me of hope.
"A lot to think about!"
I picked this book up on a whim since I was on a road trip to Seattle and back, and have been on a really big self help and non-fiction kick. I get this one to try it out, and it was really informative and interesting, although not quite the book for me. It is for sure still 5-stars, since it was well written and I enjoyed the narration. I don't know that I got as much out of the book as some of the others I have heard recently, but I feel like some of the stuff that is in there would be perfect for one of my friends to hear! I think the book is written in a way that will really help her. So, although it wasn't something I walked away from feeling changed I feel like it is just what my friend needs to hear to really help here in some things she is going through!
"Great Audible...plenty of useful tips!"
Stress is a challenging part of life, yet we can't live without it. To experience life is to experience stress. Author explains how stress isn't so much what happens, but our reaction to it. Sometimes life throws us a curveball, but we have the innate ability to deal with any detour in life. We all have the power within us to open the door to a better life. You have the choice to empower yourself. No one can do that for you.
Author reveals strategies and techniques that power each of the steps to better health and happiness. Take what fits for you and incorporate these easy steps into your life. This book serves as a treasure chest of resources, helping you add to your toolbox so you can move past any current barriers and create the life you want.
This is wonderful book --- warm and friendly and filled with wise advice for everyone. This is about connecting and understanding the importance of the simple things in life. Time and love and encouragement ..... gifts we all have to give and want to receive.
A must for all parents, teachers, care-givers, coaches and anyone who feels low sometimes in their life.
Helpful, positive, and insightful.
This book is all about letting go of things that hold you back from enjoying life. It teaches you how to completely let go of worry, say No to embarrassment, and obliterate regret. By letting go of these 3 things you can fully live in the present without torturing yourself by "rerunning" embarrassing moments or dwelling on things you wish you hadn't done. The section on worry is great for learning how to free yourself from anxiety and start doing things you've been avoiding or you've been too scared to try.
I absolutely love the philosophy behind this book. Leading a life full of worry, embarrassment, and regret is no way to live. This book is all about letting go of the things that hold you back from enjoying your life as well as negative events that happened in your past. Life is too short to dwell on the past or fear the future!
"It is a spirit lifter"
Happiness is a word that is thrown around so much that it can easily lose its meaning. But as hard as happiness can be to truly define, it can be even more difficult to attain. Everybody wants to be happy, of course, but what if they’re not? Is happiness something that comes and goes like the weather, or is it something that we can develop and nurture within ourselves?
We as an individual stresses and worries about a lot of things; some serious, others, rather pointless, most of us on this planet are suffering from worry, embarrassment, and regret, scale may vary but most of us has some issues in life.
Jennifer Alison provides dozens of positive affirmations as well as imaginative and occasionally even scientifically tested ways to bring happiness into your life every day,
The advices are really very simple and straightforward to understand yet when we start implementing, you will feel it is a big task earlier, but after a few weeks of practise you will start enjoying what is call the present moment or mindfulness.
I highly recommend her book as well this audible.
Sorrel has very impressive speaking style which I think was perfect for the book category, I felt goosebumps many times listening to her.
"A Great Way to Accept the Truth and Be Happy"
The examples I got to hear in this book were different than what people usually tell you which is why I found this enjoyable to listen to.
I have always found every book different and unique which is why I’m not the type of person who compares judgements and solutions. However, the solutions mentioned in this one are totally incredible in their own unique way.
No, this is my first one and the experience I had makes me think of going for more of his books.
I listened it in my weekdays so yes there were some pauses in it.
I’m feeling a lot better after listening to this and everything Jennifer has sketched out in this is totally relatable. So, it’s a thumbs up from me.
"LIVING A HAPPY LIFE FOR A BRIGHTER FUTURE"
I love the fact that the Author treated the three elements separately, i mean Worry, Embarrassment and Regret. The Author used some relative quotes and their authors, thus leading me into further research by finding out more about the authors of these quotes. The points in the book were well explained and the narrator projected objectively and thus building up a sense of "action, move and let go" in my mind, she wasn't too fast or slow.
This book is a must read.
I really liked the chapters that discussed about worries and how it affects us both mentally and physically leaving our minds unstable and it leads to loads of problems we observe in societies today, such as drug abuse, alcoholism and lots more...
one thing i have learnt from this book that i will surely apply, is that i have to stop worrying about the past or feel guilty and regretful continually. i have learnt that worrying only takes from you and leaves you with nothing but imbalanced health state.
True happiness comes from Living free from the past and looking up to a better and brighter future, this book has surely taken me one step further to building my mind and expectations, taking nothing but less about the past and put your energy working towards a better and more suitable future.
Jennifer Alison is an Awesome writer and she has proven this once again, look forward to listening to more of her books...
Honestly delivers exactly what it says. This offers practical steps to move toward achieving inner happiness. The author clearly instructs the reader on the path to happiness with insightful illustrations and brilliant clarity. It is practical and heartfelt, as well as extremely applicable to everyday life. Moreover, it brings up profound issues that are typically ignored or overlooked and presents steps to approach and deal with those things - a step by step path. I Hope this review helps you decide to purchase this audio book!
"great escapism. Helps put things in perspective"
The sort of book I would not usually go for but i actually loved it, found it very useful. Everyone has issues, most people just try to ignore them, but I am finding it best to meet them head on and deal with them - this book helped a lot with this. Thank you.
"When worry ceases to function as a constructive problem solving device and becomes instead a near constant obsession of life's uncertainty, it begins to cause problems"
Dr. Alison's explanation of worry's proper place allowed me to tackle excessive worry more effectively. It was incredibly helpful to appreciate my worry's ability to assist with intelligent decision making, in order to then recognize when it overstepped its bounds.
I am a fan of the helpful exercises, (What WOULD my life look like without worries) and the positive guided meditations.
Overall, the performance is pleasant and positive, and the book gave balanced and practical advice on empowering the audience to overcome worry, embarrassment, and regrets.
