The hallmark of a journalist is curiosity, but there's a lot more to this fascinating career, as listeners will discover in Head of Journalism at Brunel University Sarah Brunel's sweeping overview of the field. Narrator Richard Aspel's rich and charismatic voice makes this audiobook a joy to listen to, as audiences become immersed in a history of journalism, news production, reputations in journalism, the relationship between journalism and technology, journalism during conflict, and the future of journalism. Thorough and forward thinking, this guide is a must-listen for anybody with a passion for news, whatever its form.
Journalism today is moving faster than ever before. With web 2.0, blogging, huge media conglomerates, 24-hour news-networks, and tight legal frameworks, this introduction investigates the role of journalism in the digital age. With priorities shifting, do journalists still strive for truth or are they solely concerned with "infotainment" - driven by sales and ratings? This captivating guide explains the history of journalism, its everyday workings, and the ethical dilemmas that modern journalists face.

Although these are great intro books, they are very basic. These are great for middle school and freshmen in high school to help get the big picture. However, for adults, I would recommend getting information from elsewhere and I would not try another book (unless of course I have no idea what the topic is about).
I would not. This is mainly fiction, and if it was turned into a documentary, it would be under stimulating. This is incredibly introduction-level style of information.
For the author, I would recommend using more vocabulary terms and focusing down on the micro level of what a journalism does and how they write instead of focusing on the business of journalism. People looking to learn about journalists want to know more about the writing rather than the politics.
"Okay Introduction for beginners like myself"
A basic introductory help, this is exactly what I wanted. Good refresher text, and I found out a few new things, and brushed up on vocabulary. Several points were made that inspired me to make plans for more research and practice. I will be definately be listening to it a second time soon, and am open to other audio books by same prducers.
