Bring your home out of the mess it's in and learn how to keep it under control.
"The dirty little secret about most organizing advice is that it's written by organized people," says blogger, speaker, and decluttering expert Dana K. White. "But that's not how my brain works. I'm lost on page three."
Dana blogs at A Slob Comes Clean, chronicling her successes and failures with her self-described "deslobification process". In the beginning she used the name Nony (short for aNONYmous), because she was sharing her deep, dark slob secret. Now she has truly come clean - with not only her real name but the strategies she has developed, tested, and proved in her own home. She has learned what it takes to bring a home out of disaster status, which habits make the biggest and most lasting impact, and how to keep clutter under control.
In How to Manage Your Home Without Losing Your Mind, Dana explains that cleaning your house is not a onetime project but a series of ongoing premade decisions. Her reality-based cleaning and organizing techniques debunk the biggest housekeeping fantasies and help listeners learn what really works.
Chapter titles include:
With a huge helping of empathy and humor, Dana provides a step-by-step process with strategies for getting rid of enormous amounts of stuff in as little time (and with as little emotional drama) as possible.

Even if you do your dishes every day clean your kitchen floor do read this book.
It is for readers who are not very organised.
If you need ideas to organise your closet and how to make your house Pinterest worthy than this book is not for you.
I love one thing about this book is it changes your mindset.
I have read bits and bobs on the blog so thought I would give this book a whirl. Boy am I glad I did! I totally identify with everything, it all made total sense.
I would definitely recommend this to a friend....but only if they have a similar mindset!
Amazing. Loved it. Wish I had been able to have this a decade ago. Many light bulb moments;)
Dana K White is a very funny writer and podcast broadcaster
. Her tone is encouraging and humble. Her goals realistic and simple.
My home may never be magazine worthy, but my mind is no longer overwhelmed and anxious, which is most important.
This is not a book full of technical checklists and exhaustive plans. I think it's better for it. I'll listen to this again and again while I'm cleaning or decluttering.
I'm so glad, too that the author read the book. Her voice is lovely both here, and on her podcast.
"A book on cleaning that you will be entertained by"
One of my absolute favorites!
It sounds JUST like her podcasts. And I love her podcasts.
YES! Her website, and podcasts. This is just slightly more organized.
So excited that I was able to get this on audio book. (I've just discovered Audible by the way! Where has THAT been my entire life??) I decided to make yesterday (Monday) laundry day. I loved that I was listening to your book (and I ADORE that you're the one reading it) while I was folding and putting away laundry. I laughed hysterically on the part about children never seeming to remember where the hamper is. Oh my goodness gracious. Isn't that the absolute truth. The concept of decluttering turning into a worse mess because you're just relocating the mess instead of purging it. Life changing. I've always thought there was something wrong with me. Why couldn't I have a clean house? Like ever? Why am I always drowning in laundry and dishes???? MAKING myself do the dishes and run the dishwasher every night truly is a game changer. This is my first week attempting a laundry day. Wish me luck. ;)
Thanks Dana so much for following your passion and what God has led you to do. You've helped so many women! Amazing what God calls us to do isn't it!?!? Much love!!
"Must Read for Would-Be Homemakers"
Awesome! This is the BEST information on keeping a home that I've ever read! It is pratical, informative, relatable, and funny all at the same time. I finally feel like I have a roadmap for daily success at home and I have already seen results. I am truly glad to have found a kindred spirit who decided to share her experience and strategies for success. Two thumbs up!!
It was so good. Dana recorded it beautifully and is so motivating and expiring. Thank you!
"Practical, yet profound! "
Dana (Noni's) advice is so simple, yet so AMAZINGLY helpful! Very encouraging as well!
"A gold star plan for de-slobification"
I was spell-bound listening to this. Yep, 2 chapters on washing dishes. No complaints. 2 on laundry? I get it. And that 28-day appendix. That illustrates the sameness of starting de-slobification? I listened. Even though the author had some well reasoned warnings about using eBay to declutter, I was somehow called to it. $700 + later, I'm finishing up the decluttering. I loved this book. Great performance. This woman's "12-step" program is gold. Thank you!
Finally, someone who moves through life the same way I have. It seems that the more I try to get organized, the more I leave new messes in my wake. Who would have thought washing dishes could be a great way to move forward to make my home a pleasant place to be. Thank you!
"Such a great book!"
I have been following Dana's blog (and particularly podcasts) for a few years, and I listen while I try to clean... this made the book an essential buy for me. Dana is just like me, and is hilarious, and makes me feel like I'm not alone. This stuff doesn't come naturally to everyone. I finally have hope though - and I am seeing little successes. I'd highly recommend this book to anyone who feels overwhelmed by their home. I'm starting to actually enjoy mine, now that it is becoming more manageable through simple tasks like doing the dishes. Looking forward to the next book :)
As a full time special education teacher, mom of a 2 year old and one on the way, wife of a teacher and coach I am constantly fighting what feels like a losing battle when it comes to keeping my house livable. This book motivated me to make small changes that will undoubtably help me take control and in turn enjoy my home and my family. Loved listening to it while I cleaned and decluttered. Thank you!!
"READ THIS BOOK!"
Dana you rock! This book is honest, open, hilariously perfect with all of life's imperfections that you shared. Simply marvelous. This is a well done "must read". Totally worth the listen. Glad you narrated it yourself. Can't imagine anyone else capturing it all the way it deserves. READY FOR YOUR NEXT ONE!
Amazing to find someone whose brain works like mine. I have struggled with overwhelm and mess my whole life and have read and/or listened to everything out there. She is the first one who gets where I'm coming from and can help:)
