Loved listening to this book, and getting the motivation i need to start going to the gym.
Narrated so well and wrote so well. I would recommend listening to this
I have just finished listening to this audio book and found it extremely motivational and the kick up the butt to get me started, some excellent useful tips too. Its not preachy like some other exercise and weight loss books can be. Jim applies it to your everyday living and with his own stories he inspires. Working on my plan today, good luck everyone on getting started by listening to this book x
The narration flows perfectly and nicely sets the tone for this book, from page one.
Its nice to realise that even the pros have moments where their motivation and commitment are tested. I'm not alone! I can relate to the intro particularity. I've skipped gym sessions in the past when the weather has looked a bit grim.. I too cycle to gym!.
The narrator was an excellent choice for this book. His voice not only creates vivid imagery but is also clear and concise during the more practical parts of the book
The books has 2 halves really and thats how I listened to it initially. I now have parts I jump to when I require a little 'pep talk'.
All in all, this is a nice little guide on mindset that can be revisited when things get tough.
It made me think a lot more about looking internally for results, instead of waiting for things to happen.
I was moved by the story in the parachute regiment because it clearly shows the limitations of the mind over the body.
Its a good easy listen that will make you think about some truths you may know, but have never put into practice. Some of it sounds a bit cliche, but that does not make it less true or inappropriate. It hits the nail on the head when it comes to the psychological warfare that gets to us all.
The book was good overall. The narrator did well but I don't feel he was the right pick to read a book about fitness though I do appreciate his efforts. I am going to try and go at my diet with a new mindset after reading this book so thank you for sharing your story.
"Good for the novice exercisor or trainer/coach"
Jim has very interesting and entertaining stories about his life. I particularly liked his stories about his military experience.
This book gives valuable insight into the struggles and mind set of a novice exerciser. This is invaluable information as you attempt to avoid the common pitfalls of fitness. It also is evaluable information to the new trainer helping him/her understand their clientele better.
Great accent which is appropriate as Jim is also from the U.K.

You can't get any better with this book. The author is a certified personal trainer. That's who you want to learn from.
