"Great book, well researched - opinion of fellow MD"

As a surgical resident with personal interest in yoga, healthy eating, fitness, and a curiosity about integrative medicine, I bought this book expecting to hear a bunch of quacky $&@# with an occasional gold nugget advice that was doable and actually backed by evidence-based medicine. What I found was a plethora of solid, well-founded advice in a format that was so easy to understand I'm tempted to buy the book for my 70+ year old parents in hopes that they may find a better balance in the way they live their lives and their approach to health. I may not be able to eat tempeh, piles of spinach and get 7+ hours of sleep as a resident, but on the whole, the book certainly makes me more mindful of my habits and gives me some hope for creating a long term plan for health.

    Story
"mmm If you've heard Dr W before this is repetitive"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

If you've never seen this guy on PBS then it may well be wonderful for you.

What could Andrew Weil have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Include cutting edge information including breakthroughs in neurobiology and less about vitamin supplementation!

What aspect of Andrew Weil’s performance would you have changed?

    Oh He is great!

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Dr. Andrew Weil’s Guide to Optimum Health?

I would cut all of the old nutrition info and add more and in-depth accounts of the success of his clients. Those narratives seemed a very powerful way to deliver Dr. W's message.

    Any additional comments?

I might be different than most listeners I live in Berkeley, and I'm an academic.
