I just found the content really dull. Maybe it was because i have heard it before many times or maybe it was the way it was written and narrated, but not really very interesting at all and certainly didn't help with my panic attacks.
I had read EVERYTHING in this book before on the internet...for free.
Some of the tips were ok, but this is all very very cliched stuff which has been repeated countless times before.
Not worth the hype. This book is all about hype and marketing, which completely failed to deliver. All cliched dull advice which is available for free with a quick google search.

The performance wasn't great but i always give people a second try.
This book (and the marketing that surrounds it!) promised a lot and for me, totally and utterly failed to deliver. None of the advice and tips felt realistic or anything i could use in my life. At times i felt talked down to and other times the advice felt silly. Very disappointed.
Maybe some people will like this and given by the positive reviews some must, but for me this was not helpful at all. I think if you have never read anything at all on anxiety or panic attacks and this is a new thing then this might be the book for you. Otherwise I fear you may be hearing the same things again and again.
Despite the successful technique described by this book to overcome anxiety,only listening to the book is very helpful in this matter. I can't find the words to thank the author.
I have listened to anxiety books before and have had CBT, I recently had a bad setback after going on holiday which threw me off guard and I was distraught, I thought I'd give DARE a go and it's really great. Similar messages as others but so good to hear the author writing from experience and some really key messages put across. Thank you, it's reassuring and I need to keep practicing, best wishes to everyone.
Everything that was said in this book was right on the mark. He described the different anxieties we could be dealing with, but you didn't ever get the skills to resolve them. I was very surprised when I realized that was all there was. Up until that time I was totally into it.

Sorry but i hated this. I WANTED to like this. I wanted it to help. But it really didn't. If you have ever read anything at all about anxiety then you will know exactly what is i this book. Sorry but hated it. Cliched nonsense. Waste of money
"This May Have Saved My Life"
I have been suffering with a panic disorder for four months and this was one of the many tools that has helped me tremendously. The material Barry covers has given me a very practical approach to healing my anxiety and getting my life back. I can not be grateful enough that I discovered this resource when I did. I was feeling totally exhausted and wondering if I could go on. Now I'm finding I can live my life again more and more each day/week. I am hopeful that I can recover 100% because of Barry's help. "Have pen and paper handy"
This is one of those audio books that the author does an excellent job narrating his own book. I was captivated and intrigued by this approach to anxiety and worry. I would listen to this in my car and would have to pull over to take notes down. It is just that good. This book will be with forever now... it is top 3 of all time self help books. Highly recommend the audio version.

This is the most thorough resource I have found. I have sought help through professional counseling and other anxiety programs. By far Barry McDonagh reveals in great detail what the root of anxiety is and how to treat it successfully. Many programs deal with the symptoms of anxiety but Barry reveals what the true cause is. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

"Rehashed, but relevant"
Only if said friend hadn't read a single self-help book on the topic of anxiety. Otherwise, this book would be incredibly pointless.
The tips toward the end of the book; they outweigh everything said in the earlier portion of the book. I'd go so far as to say the DARE response itself is pointless when compared to them.
He played himself quite well, I'd imagine.
General indifference throughout the majority of this spiel, with some intermittent depression about the dullness of the DARE response. The health tips, however, evened things out.
Chapter 15 brought this book up from 1-2 stars to 3, for me. Most of this book is a rehashed version of ACT / MBCT (and even admits to this), but the 'supercharge' tips redeemed itself somewhat.
Buy this book, but skip to chapter 15, unless you know nothing about mindfulness / ACT / MBCT.
"Reduce Anxiety and Recover Happiness"
I purchased the audio book after having, yet another, panic attack. I was willing to try anything to get relief. Barry's suggestions are practical and effective. You will need to do your part and practice the techniques. I managed to get through another bought of anxiety with little resistance. Thank you Barry! There is hope!
