When You Talk, Are People Changed?
Whether you speak from the pulpit, podium, or the front of a classroom, you don't need much more than blank stares and faraway looks to tell you you're not connecting. Take heart before your audience takes leave! You can convey your message in the powerful, life-changing way it deserves to be told. An insightful, entertaining parable that's an excellent guide for any speaker, Communicating for a Change takes a simple approach to delivering effectively. Join Pastor Ray as he discovers that the secrets to successful speaking are parallel to the lessons a trucker learns on the road. By knowing your destination before you leave (identifying the one basic premise of your message), using your blinkers (making transitions obvious), and implementing five other practical points, you'll drive your message home every time!
"Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away...."
"Once upon a time...."
"In the beginning...."
Great stories capture and hold an audience's attention from start to finish. Why should it be any different when you stand up to speak? In Communicating for a Change, Andy Stanley and Lane Jones offer a unique strategy for communicators seeking to deliver captivating and practical messages. In this highly creative presentation, the authors unpack seven concepts that will empower you to engage and impact your audience in a way that leaves them wanting more.

"A must read for every communicator!"
A communication map-book.
When you are determining your goal for communicating, ask yourself, "Am I just passing along information or am I communicating something to help change someone's life?".
Remember the map: Me-We-God-You-We. (let the reader understand).
When you get stuck, remember: 1)What do they need to know? (information), 2) Why do they need to know it? (motivation), 3) What do they need to do? (application), 4) Why do they need to do it? (inspiration), 5) How can I help them remember? (reiteration)
I appreciate Lloyd James, however, with all do respect, I don't think his reading was anything outstanding. It was decently performed, but from a producer's point of view, it did lack a little in real 'first person" life likeness" and authenticity. It was good enough. I was not disappointed. Compared to some books I've heard, Lloyd is Awesome!
I still like and prefer a good exegetical sermon or Bible lesson, however, I believe Andy Stanley is the best communicator of this current season of time. His "One Point" approach is meeting a huge need and his method should be valued for the credit that it truly is!
"lots of good information to think about"
i thought first part was a little cheesy but still had good info, second part very good
"Amazing!! I will never preach the same!"
This is a book that every pastor should read! It may not change your preaching but it will change why you do it.
"Serious communication work out"
Great book which communicates effectively and skilfully using the very things it teaches. Creative and gripping. Transformed my approach to speaking and has boosted my confidence.
This was a thought-provoking and inspiring audiobook. I plan to listen to this book again.
A must listen for anyone wanting to preach or teach God's word. This book will change the way you think about communicating.
"Excellent resource. Very challenging."
excellent resource, makes you look at the way your communicating. honest, instructive. gives great practical insights.
"Drawn out but amusing"
You could skip the extended parable that is part 1, but it is amusing nonetheless.
"Great book - in spite of the Christian asides"
This is a fantastic book on how to effectively communicate a message to an audience! It is aimed at pastors and preachers, but the lessons are very valuable to anyone who speaks to groups of people. I found the Christian dogma to be off-putting, which I know is a ridiculous complaint considering it was written for and by devout Christians, but I only mention it to encourage non-religious (or non-Christian) people to give this book a read in spite of it! I put its principles to use before even finishing the book and already have seen great improvements in the effectiveness of my group communication. :-)
"great book for any communicator"
i will be listening to this book several times over. i believe the teachings in this book will help all who have the desire to communicate effectively
