From the millionaire entrepreneur and New York Times bestselling author of The 10X Rule comes a bold and contrarian wake-up call for anyone truly ready for success.
Before Grant Cardone built five successful companies (and counting), became a multimillionaire, and wrote bestselling books...he was broke, jobless, and drug-addicted.
Grant had grown up with big dreams but friends and family told him to be more reasonable and less demanding. If he played by the rules, they said, he could enjoy everyone else's version of middle class success. But when he tried it their way, he hit rock bottom.
Then he tried the opposite approach. He said NO to the haters and naysayers and said YES to his burning, outrageous, animal obsession. He reclaimed his obsession with wanting to be a business rock star, a huge philanthropist, live in a mansion, even own an airplane.
Obsession made all of his wildest dreams come true. And it can help you achieve massive success too. As Grant says, we're in the middle of an epidemic of average. The conventional wisdom is to achieve balance and take it easy. But this has really just given us an excuse to be unexceptional.
If you want real success, you have to be obsessed and know how to harness that power to rocket to the top. This book will give you the inspiration and tools to break out of your cocoon of mediocrity and achieve your craziest dreams. Grant will teach you how to:
· set crazy goals-and reach them, every single day
· feed the beast: when you value money and spend it on the right things, you get more of it
· shut down the doubters-and use your haters as fuel
You can be obsessed...or you can be average. It's your choice. Why not start going full-throttle towards your obsession today?

Freelance copywriter on a mission to live my best life and be my best self. I listen to wake me up and to get me to sleep.
In. Your. Face.
Possibly something by Tony Robbins, but this guy is waaaaay more intense!
This is my first (and I'll definitely get more!)
Ok,yeah GC is loud, obnoxious and arrogant (and he's entitled to be, he's made an incredible life for himself). And yeah, he swears. But man, he puts a rocket up your behind like not other!!! It took me two weeks to get through this book. I listened each morning as I got ready for work (I work freelance from home) and each day I have gone to work and pushed myself harder and further than I ever dreamed I would. He really makes you see that you can't get what you want as well as make excuses for why you're not trying hard enough (we've all got them!). I'm absolutely exhausted but still pushing myself! Because when you're obsessed you don't care about being tired! Thanks GC!I would say this isn't for newbies to the self-help world because it's pretty hard core, so it's perfect for extreme self-helpers! But then again, if you're looking for inspiration and motivation and you are really ready to put the work in, this book will do that whether you are new to self help or not.Now tempted to get 10x! I'm obsessed!!!
I have to say I have found my mentor.
I have been obsessed sporadically throughout.y life and have found myself settling time and again. this has happened mainly due to my life being mentored by average!
I am not average, I've always known I'm not average but family, friends, teachers and booses persistently tell you that that is where you should be.
I know they set the bar way too low for me.
Grant Cardone delivers in this book, the stuff that you need to hear in order to disseminate the lies and average goals that you have been set by your peers so far.
Grant - I'll be in touch!
Geoff Geen - genius!
For my personal development I listen at least one audiobook per week. It is only rare to discover a book that challenges your thinking over and over again. I listened this book 1.5x speed, which makes Grant Cardone even more intense then he already is.
If you want you drive and passion to be lifted to another level, this is the book for you.
This book will change your life. If you see the title and it strikes a strong chord with you, you will certainly love this book, you will be deeply affected and you will feel incredible listening to it. If you want more from life, this is a book you should listen to again and again and again.
I fooled by some of the reviews for this book and I regret not researching the author before making the purchase. It's basically unoriginal salesman talk with no substance or genuine advice. The author lacks empathy for anyone not wired like him. The basic advice is make huge goals, write them down every day, obsess and work hard to meet your goals and don't listen to others negative views. Be persistent . Make money.
"love the guy. this is just 10x with a new name"
Love Grant Cardone and own a lot of his books. That's why it pains me to write this but I have to be honest. This is basically just the 10X book switching the term 10X with "Be Obsessed".
Not literally word for word but basically the same.
"Best book ever!!!"
Stop drinking energy drinks just read this book. It will take you to the next level.
"A good message, turned sales pitch"
I liked the "be obsessed" message, until it turned into a a sales pitch for his ridiculously expensive get rich quick sales school... "give me 20,000 and I'll make you a millionaire"... gross, almost like listening to a televangelist
"Money? Yes. Full Life? Not quiiiiite...."
Cardone says he wrote this book because people were telling him they applied the 10X philosophy and, while their financial/business success soared, other parts of their lives were falling apart. "Be Obsessed or Be Average" is supposed to show you how you can have it all.
Uhm, well, you can have a great marriage... as long as you marry someone who doesn't mind that "date night" is actually for four or more people and is used to network. Marry someone who, when asks, "Gee. We're now moving, the car's rolling; where are we moving to?" and responds, "Oh... okay," when you say, "I don't know." And you can have a great family life by spending 15-20 minutes with your children per day (Quality time vs. Quantity time because, "Kids don't need that much time, especially the older they get.")
Okay, so there's that. But the good takeaways I got were about how being obsessed wipes out zero free time/wasted time. About how to be steadfastly persistent. About how to cultivate the positive influences in your life (Listen to people who are more successful than you; negative people are usually those who are fearful and who haven't done much). There were parts that were inspiring, parts that filled me with a positive zeal.
This is a listen where the tent revival preacher shouts the good news to you (and I do mean "shouts"). Just don't expect to find much in the way of balance here. Plus, be prepared to listen about Grant's jet a whoooole lot...
"Best book on Audible"
extremely well spoken and brutally honest and helpful content. gonna listen again for sure. 10/10.
"I AM OBSESSED AND I REFUSE TO HAVE AN AVERAGE LIFE"
I absolutely loved this book and will recommend to everyone I spend time with. This book is incredible. No one will ever regret listening to this book!!
"Another Home Run"
Grant Cardone broke the spine and killed it again!!! His books and teachings are a must for the obsessed entrepreneur. He taps into every area of business, with the tools and knowledge, to set your life up for awesomeness. Thank you Uncle G for sharing your experience and wisdom.
Not very engaging, nor very interesting or inspiring. He just rambles a lot about how hard he worked and why you have to be crazy to be successful. It reminds me of when my crazy bible thumping Texan uncle rants about how we need more Jesus or the Mexicans are going to take over our country
Have someone else narrate it.
Some of the encouragement he offered was good.
At one point there was a definite racist undertone to something he said about Mexico or Mexicans - I honestly can't remember the exact quote.
"more of the same"
I was hoping for something new. just another chance for Grant to repeat same stuff from other books and programs.
"10X with a new cover"
If it was new content. This was the same information as the 10x Rule, which was great and I highly recommend. Readers should choose either this book or the 10X Rule but not both.
No not the genre, but I will not buy another book from Grant Cardone in fear of wasting my money on another book with the same concepts. I feel like I was duped because I am a fan , Grant took advantage of that.
He was a fine narrator
Repeated concepts that were already presented in his previous books.
