"Well Written, Well Narrated, Informative"
Everyone Should Listen
My favorite section was the Bill of Rights of Assertiveness. It made me realize the obligation I felt to talk, act, and respond to people a certain way was unfounded and that I no longer needed to feel controlled by that obligation.
I believe this program would benefit a wide range of listeners, even confident, self-assured individuals, because it provides sound advice and guidance on the proper way to communicate with others and how to get what you want by creating win-win with others.
"Useful, Practical, and Down-to-Earth"
This is a fantastic book. I had read it a few years ago and it helped me out a lot. When I found out an audio version was available, I wanted to hear it. The audio is a great compliment to the book. It fills in pieces nicely as you get to hear the tone and flow of how assertive communication sounds. Hearing the information made it even easier to apply the suggestions.
Yes, I was streaming the audio and the internet cut out, and I got up to fix it so I could finish it before moving on to other things on my to-do list.
"A couple of hours of powerful instructions"
I learned a lot in a few hours of instruction. And the point made about practice was very clear. I recommend this audio for people wanting to become more assertive.
"Great Book. Wispering Narrator."
Like the stories on the book. Very helpful. Contrasting from agressive to passive behavior.
Only that narrator has a whispering voice. When I was driving in the car with my Bluetooth on, it was really hard to understand.
"Effective Advice Presented Simply"
Well its my first audio book, so it ranks top of the list :) I really liked this program and its narration. If other audio-books are like this, I'd consider listening to more books on audio.
I liked all the discussion surrounding parents whether it was asserting yourself with parents, being an assertive parent, and teaching your child to be assertive. As a mom dealing with my irrational parents as well as my sometimes difficult children, these sections presented important life lessons for me
"Real Instructions for Everyday Challenges"
The audio quality was professional and the narrator's voice was affluent and comfortable to listen to.
I liked the dialogue about how to ask for a raise. Provides a safe framework of how to approach your boss so he/she is aware of your needs while you of his/her.
Myths that keep you from being assertive.
Overall, an impressive book with complete advice on how to improve communication with difficult people.
"Useful tips and techniques"
I found this a very interesting book with useful tips and techniques that one can put into practice immediately. There were a few chapters at the end that slowed down, but the first four chapters were excellent.
"Wow Love it"
Wow this book was so awesome!!
I love the concept. Teaches me a lot, I have been living on the passive and aggressive side for the longest while but now I will do the transition and be Assertive and still win the respect of others.
Yes I would recommend this to many friends who are struggling simply because they can't or don't know how to convey their needs or wants. They are smart, highly skilled, hard working, and good hearted people, but they never developed this one area of their life and its causing all sorts of problems for them.
The chapter on making the transition. I like how Judy doesn’t assume now that you know what to do, that you will be able to do it. She gives useful ways to help you make the transition from reading about assertiveness to actually putting it into practice. This was by far my favorite chapter.
I was expecting some canned or prescriptive advice that sounded corny or clichéd but it wasn’t that at all. It was direct, but honest, hands-on, and real-world. I feel like it can work.
"Fantastic Lessons in Standing Up and Speaking Out"
The narration - narrator does a terrific job of putting the right voice to the book, very easy to distinguish the voice, tone, and other vocal qualities of a strong, assertive communicator
Can't think of other books to compare it to, this one truly stands on its own has a unique guide to get real world instructions on real world interactions.
Yep, hit the play button only once and listened to the entire recording. Very easy to listen and follow along as the narration is spoken and flows well and the content is profound, yet easy to grasp.
Do yourself a favor and give it a listen, Judy knows what she's talking about.
