Ok, i feel like i have to set the scene a little here, firstly i buy many many things off the net, read many books, try out lots of software, but never ever leave a review or feedback. im only doing it now cuz i think this audiobook has CHANGED MY LIFE FOR EVER!!!
I wont bother you with the full story of how many i was smoking or how long for i simply want to say that no matter how sceptical you are (and i really was, in fact didnt buy it many times on occasions when i was thikning about it) this audiobook works!!
Im a real sceptic with all things like this and am terribly weak willed but i think this book does a few key thing that make it work:
1. Changes your subconsious perception of smoking and why you feel you need
2. Impregnantes in your mind the real reason you smoke
3. reminds you how enjoyable it will be not to smoke
..the result is YOU WILL, and i really mean this, not only give up smoking overnight,(but heres the best bit) find it EASY, and (wait for it) ENJOYABLE!!
Its so hard to believe but i can assure you i have gone from 40 smokes a day to none, its not beEN hard, its not been torture, its been ENJOYABLE and its been enlightening!!! DO It now YOU WONT LOOK BACK....
I have been smoking 20-30 a day for 17 years. I listened to this audiobook and on the 28th December I stopped smoking. It was easy and I have not craved one since. Brilliant book, and actually works
I usually don't write reviews about any books or downloads I have made in the past, but I must do in this book as it deserves the recognition. I have been a smoker for 20 years. I'm 32, I started when I was 12. I've tried many times to stop smoking using various methods, none worked. I was always extremely distressed and unhappy when I would light up another cigarette.
This book changed everything. I was sceptical when I first got it, but listening to it has made me realise that I gain absolutely nothing from smoking and I gain more from not smoking. All the myths I had about smoking (boredom, stress, etc) had been dispelled. At the end of this book, I found myself wanting to quit and I've not had a cigarette since. I feel incredibly happy, actually found myself smiling cause I am free.
When I came home tonight, I realised that Allen Carr had actually passed away. I usually never feel emotional for someone I have never met, but this man was a true hero and he literally saved my life.
Thank You Allen Carr.
You will be remembered and respected by people you have cured for years to come.
I am not reviewing the audio book but I read this 14 months ago and stopped smoking immediatley afterwards.
It is written in such a way that you think Allen Carr wrote it for you. I am going to get this version though as my wife wants it.
It is a fantastic piece of work and simple and clear and concise. Instead of the millions our government spend on ridiculous advertising campaigns they should recommend you read this book, in it you will find out why they don't.
I smoked almost a pack a day for 30 years, then I bought this audiobook last March. I finally listened to it in April and gave up smoking right away. I havent smoked one cigarette since and have been smoke free for 9 months now. There is no magic - just a simple, compelling expalantion of why we smoke and why in fact, we don't really either want or need to.
I wish I had done this years ago - but it's never too late. What have you got to loose?
I decided to let some time pass before writing a review because once the euphoria of quitting had passed I wanted to make sure I could still say for sure that I am a reformed non-smoker, and I can.
I had been a continuous smoker for 27 years and was smoking between 40 - 50 cigarettes a day. I could find every reason to justify spending £90 a week on a habit I only admitted to myself I wanted to break. Though I had the continuous smokers cough and though my bank balance suffered badly neither of those factors were my final straw. I was due to spend a weekend on a retreat where smoking was not permitted and I didn't want to spend my time sneaking off to have one and lying to people. This audiobook did the trick and I can truthfully say that I look back at the few days after I extinguished my last fag as there being nothing more than moments of "emptiness" as a lifetimes addiction was leaving my body. I feel now totally liberated and I am enjoying having more money and my cough has gone. This is permanent. Give it a try and hope you find the same freedom.
I heard about this book from a friend of mine who quit smoking about 6 months back and I laughed at him telling its just a temperory pause and he will start back again but he never thinks of starting back again. We both started smoking together and then it got to me that if this book helped him I should try it too.
I was very skeptical when I started on this audiobook. I brought this audiobook as I never complete paperbacks so kept listening to this cd while i was driving and I am stopped for a week now.I fee great and happy. There were initial cravings but I fought them happily and easily. Great book worth reading and please make sure you complete because you wont understand the happiness of quiting till you complete the book.
I haven't got the audio but 9 weeks ago I picked up a paper copy from the bookshop and three days later I finished the book and smoked my last cigarette. I was smoking thirty plus a day. I'm amazed it worked.
It's a must buy!
I listened to this on the 4th of April 2008 and havn't even thought of having another fag. Even going to the pub or out socialising has not proved difficult. I recommend this book every time.
I went to one of the Allen Carr courses 4 weeks ago, having read the book. I haven't smoked since, and have found it pretty easy. I used the audio book over the last couple of weeks whilst in the car or in bed, and it's a great way to reinforce the facts in your mind. Buy this now, it's great!
Listened out of interest rather than a desperate need to quit, but after listening to this over a week or so, quitting was the obvious thing to do. Really is ridiculously easy.
After many years of smoking, stopped instantly at the conclusion of the book!!!!!!!!!!!!!
**IF** you smoke and don't want to smoke for the rest of your life...get this book NOW and you will stop.Follow its instructions to the letter and you will never smoke again .... what's more you'll be happy about it, and it will be easy...**IF** you smoke and want to carry on smoking for the rest of your life ... buy this book for someone you care for who "fits the description" above and save at least one life, if you won't save your own.
"2 weeks today"
So, I was sceptical that a book would help me to quit smoking. I, like everyone else, want to quit because it is expensive, and so bad for me. Plus the dirty looks from non smokers and children are getting to me a bit. I am not a bad person, I just am (was) addicted to nicotine. But I "liked" to do it. I didn't want to have to give it up, but I did want to (only a smoker would understand, right?)
I was still sceptical when I finished the book, but that last night I put out my last cigarette and haven't touched another. That was two weeks ago. I don't miss it that much, I am not going through a crazy withdrawl, and as an added bonus, I am actually still loosing weight on my weight watchers plan.
Even if you aren't 100% committed to quitting, what is it going to hurt to read it. Just "try" it. :)
"Worth the money"
This book really worked for me. It's been five weeks since I stopped smoking, and I'm never going back.
"I Quit Smoking.. What Else Can I Say!"
I normally read Business Management Books. This is the first time that I used a Self Help Book. I quit smoking which was probably the worst habit that I ever had... So in my opinion number #1
"If you want to quit smoking buy this book"
I listen to this book whenever I have a slip up or need shoring up. The hardest part about quitting smoking is psychological. This book helps address that issue by systematically attacking all the little rationalizations we use to keep smoking.
Buy it. Stop smoking. It costs about the same as 3 packs and could give you back decades of your life.
"The only way"
I bought the audio version as a supplement to the print version. Particularly to listen to when I needed a reminder as to why I am breaking free from smoking. I wouldn't say either print or audio is better, both are equally fantastic.
The part where you are instructed to smoke that last cigarette, really smoke it and be aware of it. The realisation you get, that you don't need or enjoy this. That is a moment I will never forget.
I don't think Duncan Wells brought anything new to the book, but he did a really good job at maintaining the original feel of the book. And being able to listen to it at work and while driving, has really helped me a lot. Whenever I think I have a craving or want to mope about not smoking, I can listen to this again and again.
Since reading Easy Way for the first time, and with the help of this audio version, I have NOT smoked 1160 cigarettes. Every day has been a victory, and an easy victory at that.
After a 20 year 40 a day habit, I am now smoke free. It has been a month now and I know that I have smoked my final cigarette.
It has been one month since I listened and I have not had a single smoke. After 15 years of heavy smoking and scores of failed attempts to quit, I never thought I would be able to quit cold turkey so easily. I listened to the whole book in one sitting across a full day while on holidays. Even half way through the book I didn't expect that it was going to work for me, however I stuck with it, and it did. I plan to listen to it again over the next week to cement its messages. There is no turning back for me.. I am a non-smoker YAY!
the info in this book is good, I stopped smoking, but the narrator didn't do it for me, I had to keep reminding myself not to be distacted by the condesending manner.
