In this eloquent account of her current struggle with physical pain, Joni Eareckson Tada offers her perspective on divine healing, God's purposes, and what it means to live with joy. Over four decades ago, a diving accident left Joni a quadriplegic. Today, she faces a new battle: unrelenting pain. The ongoing urgency of this season in her life has caused Joni to return to foundational questions about suffering and God's will.
A Place of Healing is not an ivory tower treatise on suffering. Its an intimate look into the life of a mature woman of God. Whether readers are enduring physical pain, financial loss, or relational grief, Joni invites them to process their suffering with her. Together, they will navigate the distance between God's magnificent yes and heartbreaking no and find new hope for thriving in between.

Yes I would. I purchased both the audio edition and the print edition and this audio edition was excellent, very moving and extremely well read by Joni. I have several audio books of which I struggle to listen to, but I went through this in a couple of days and that is both due to the content which I thoroughly enjoyed, very moving but also because it was read by Joni and so she was speaking from her experience right from the heart. At times I felt very emotional.
Don't have any comparisons. Joni's book was exceptional.
Her clarity, very natural, it was real, straight from the heart.
Yes if I had the time.
Go get it, brilliant book.
What a joy this audio is! I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to Joni talk about her life in such a positive way. This is such a practical book to help you to carry on with your life in spite of your circumstances, something I think Joni does extremely well.
What I liked about it most, is that she is speaking from experience, and not giving pat answers to questions she doesn?t know how to answer. I?ve enjoyed hearing her whole story, from when she had the accident over 40 years ago, to how she fights to keep focused on God everyday. She is incredibly honest about how she feels each day, dealing with chronic pain, and how she chooses to give God the glory. She also tells you how you can do the same in your own life, whatever you are going through.
The stories about the disabled people around the world she has visited and brought wheelchairs to, through her charity ?Wheels For The World?, are so encouraging too.
Joni has a beautiful voice whether reading or singing during this audio, which really does make it a pleasure to listen to.

I enjoyed listening to
Joni Eeareckson Tada talks opening about the chronic pain that she experiences on a daily basis, and how she must live day by day in dependence upon God. She shares many other stories about adults and children who are confined to a wheelchair due to their disability, and their stories of courage and faith in God are inspiring.
Joni narrates this book, and she does it in a conversational way that makes you feel as if you were sitting with her at her home, as she pours out her heart and shares the wisdom that she has learned through suffering. She sings a few short songs, which I have to say make this book precious. To hear her sing to the Lord through her pain is a special gift that she gives to us.
Joni talks about the Sovereignty of God over out trials, and how He works all things together for good. Working all things together for good sometimes means that He does not take the trial away. Joni shares how in the early days of her paralysis she prayed continually that God would heal her. She now sees the countless people who have been helped through her ministry because God chose not to heal her. One thing that really struck me in this book was when she talked about taking your eyes off your own problems and helping others. She gave examples of people she met who lay aside their own daily challenges to offer assistance to others. This book is not just for those who suffer from chronic pain or a disability. I was greatly encouraged by this book and it gave me a better perspective on how a Christian should view any kind of suffering in trials.
First, it is not like other audio books. Joni is the one doing all the reading. Unlike other readers, this simple act is difficult for her and extremely taxing. Second, for those of us who suffer with agonizing diseases (I suffer with Multiple Sclerosis) to hear that Joni is now living with constant pain, yet praises our Great God and King, Jesus Christ is humbling and encouraging.
God, and what He promises.
Never have. Will look for more from Joni's past.
To trust God when it hurts. To remember He is helping even when it doesn't seem like he's near. I need to relisten to this book to write out and memorize all of the scripture resources she quotes.
Nope. If you care about how you walk with Jesus, even in pain, and you feel like you can't take one more step, one more breath, this listen is for you.

"Grateful for Joni, her testimony, and ministry"
I'm so thankful Joni narrated her book, you can really sense the passion she put into writing by hearing her voice. This topic hits close to home as my grandmother suffered with lung cancer and passed away last year.
As always Joni has reminded us of God's perspective and encouraged me to run the good race, set before me by a loving God.
"Joni...God's humble servant"
Joni's voice (through story telling and song) expresses her faith, devotion and contentment in Jesus Christ. Her steadfast commitment to God should inspire all of her listeners to grab hold of Him with all we are and trust Him completely. Listen, re-listen, apply and be blessed!
"a preacher for me!"
Joni can really speak to me because like her I paralyzed and speaks to me in a special way.
I really enjoyed her story about Summer, her story has brought a new spirit of thanksgiving!
Joni herself was my favorite character. Her thankful way or perspective has renewed my thanksgiving to God!
How to be thankful when your life is not how imagine it to be.
This book can minister to a people group many can't relate to! Joni has a special way about herself that will reveal God's love, in your storm!
"Powerful testimony and encouragement"
Loved it!! Encouraging for anyone in pain!! Gods word is permeated in the words from Joni!!
This was a wonderful book and what a treat to have Joni herself read it. You can not listen to this book and look at hardship the same way. Thank-you Joni and thank-you Jesus for Joni.
