"Learned so much - Put it right to good use"
My son is starting the fifth grade and I have always tried to stay on top of things concerning his health. I decided to purchase this book based on a couple of questions he recently asked me. It really opened my eyes to some of the things I have/haven't been doing. I immediately starting using the authors suggestions and saw my son actually enjoy (as much as one can I guess) out talks. I am so glad I purchased this - I can see such a huge differance in our communication level in this area...
"Never too early to read this excellent book!"
This book gives very good advice on living a life that your kids can learn from that teaches about sex and sexuality. Dr. Kevin Leman and Kathy Flores Bell read the book and are easy to listen to as they alternate back and forth. I recommend this for anyone looking to give their kids a healthy perspective of the changes they will go through and challenges they will face growing up.
"Gives the basics..."
I thought this book covered the basics and I did get a couple of good suggestions. Would recommend this as a beginner book for parents on how to start talking about sex with their children.
Read by the authors. Everything you needed is there. Easy to listen. Good investment. Need minimum twenty words for a review.
"Strait forward advice"
the book was just practical advice. wish my parents had read this!
it was not really a story. However Dr. Leman and Ms. Bell going back and forth with pearls of wisdom made digestible.
no i did not want to listen in one sitting because i wanted to remember all i had learned.
i wish unabridged was available. I did not want to miss a word..
I think this is a great guide for parents. Don't wait until your kids are teens.
"Chicken About Chicken's Guide"
Nothing unique about this book. It offers some helpful reminders of keeping an ongoing conversation about sex and sexual relations. However, it's difficult to get past their fundamentalist Christian worldview of marriage and human sexual relations. I'm not sure why the publisher doesn't acknowledge this fundamentalist approach to marriage in its own description of the book. The book offers some good advice on initiating conversations with youth about a difficult subject, once you get past the theology. Not worth the price of admission.
