The House of the Dead sees a special séance being held at the most haunted pub in Wales. I don't really use Audible but, anyway, I love Doctor who and Torchwood. Only gonna be buying those books (probably.)
Last one almost had me crying :( The story's are great and worth every penny.
Fantastic storyline, good narration and easy to follow dialogue. This was my first Torchwood download and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Will be looking for more to download soon as I have the time.
I listened to the Torchwood Radio dramatisations and was hooked straightaway . The characters were well played and the story lines were well written . The radio dramatisations were exciting to listen to . In fact I was so impressed with these radio dramatisations that I actually bought the Torchwood TV series off amazon to watch .
"An uneven collection with one shining entry"
Three short entries that detail lost files from the Torchwood archive. The Devil and Mrs. Carew is pretty standard for Torchwood and entertaining, Submission is forgettable, but the real star is The House of the Dead.
The House of the Dead is the last entry in the trio - and this is important the timing of the story is cleverly done and works nicely - it details Gwen, Ianto and Jack's attempts to stop a seance at the oldest pub in Wales and prevent the ascension of a terrible ancient force.
Fans of Jack and Ianto will NOT want to miss this entry.
"You Got Your Hub In My iPod!"
What I loved about Torchwood: The Lost Files was having the old cast doing the show, it brings back memories of me in middle school watching season 1 and 2 of Torchwood
It was nice to hear Ianto Jones (Gareth David-Lloyd) come backs
"House of the Dead alone worth the purchase price!"
Jack And Ianto
From the Jack loves Ianto audiobook review corner:
I just finished listening to The House of the Dead, the last story in an audiobook called Torchwood: the Lost Files. Of the 3 stories, this one was perfection! All the characters scripted without flaw and the twist at the end that I didn't see coming. If you can, listen to this story, and have tissues nearby for the ending.
Their own voices. The narrators are the folks who portray the characters on TV. Although I'd hear their voices in my head were I to read these stories, I wouldn't hear all the delightful nuances that the actors themselves bring to the production.
Ianto being angry at Jack's selfishness. Sounded real, felt real.
"Great stories from the series"
Hearing the characters read by the actors who played them
Really added depth to the characters from the series
Gwen- though Jack was a close second. Eve Miles is so good with emotion and depth of character
The rest of the story...
Loved to visit the world again
I am just going to comment on the final chapter, "The House of the Dead", because while the other stories were very good, THIS ONE BLEW ME AWAY. I was not expecting the twist it took and I am still REELING from it. BRILLIANT, bloody brilliant.
I've always loved and missed the show so much, but these stories make up for it. All three main cahracters, Jack, Gwen, and Ianto, rejoin to give us a little taste of the adventures they encountered outside ot the televised series. While the voice casting of the woman from Torchwood 1 was very mediocre, the third story had me in tears. you definately don't wanna miss this volume. definately worth it!
"Such a nice surprise"
yes, the performances are all great. the chemistry between actors is what makes it work so well!
the series is just so well done, and with a really heart-breaking twist at the end. Spoilers! Just wanna add that it's still a very welcomed surprise. A great addition to the arc of the Jack/Ianto story.
"So very well done"
This one made me weep (which the show has done a couple times, but the books never have before). Absolutely lovely job of it.
