Publisher's Summary

The casebook of Norman Birkett KC (1883-1962) covers pretty much every story that entertained the readers of News of the World between the wars. Birkett was a busy man who, in those days before legal specialisation, could at any one time be dealing simultaneously with a juicy murder, a society divorce, or a livid libel action. In this episode, Birkett takes on a case of murder, mayhem, and political intrigue.

Directed by Marc Beeby and written by Caroline and David Stafford, Norman Birkett and the Case of the Coleford Poisoner stars Neil Dudgeon as Birkett, with David Haig, Trystan Gravelle, Alison Pettitt, Michael Shelford, Clare Corbett, Sam Dale, Bruce Alexander, and Joanna Monro. Other parts were played by John Biggins and Nigel Hastings.

    "Birkett goes political"

It raised interesting questions about women's place in society, rather than being a straightforward murder mystery like the others in the series. I think it might therefore not be the best Birkett to start with but if you enjoyed the first plays you might well like this

"A Fantastic Birkett Case - Love It ❤️"

David Haig pulls off this tough case with aplomb. I can listen to anything with DH in it, that distinguished voice pulls at your heartstrings. A full cast with excellent soundtrack bringing you right into the centre of this play. A tough decision for DH 'will he or wont he' keeps you gripped.
    I love this 💚
