Summary

Long-listed, Audible.com Best of the Year, 2007

Long-listed, Audible.com 100 Audible Essentials, 2007

Audie Award winner, 2008

NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE directed by Denis Villeneuve, starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, Stellan Skarsgård, and Charlotte Rampling

Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Muad'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family—and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction. Frank Herbert's death in 1986 was a tragic loss, yet the astounding legacy of his visionary fiction will live forever.

A classic si fi storey

Very munched enjoyed this adaptation with the exception of some of the character voices and accents changing sporadically. The Baron Harconan switches from an American accent to English every now and then. However this is but a small annoyance, as the telling is excellent.

A thrilling tale

This book was exceptionally well portrayed and difficult to leave for meals. It was gripping from start to finish. A very imaginative and well thought through story. I heartily recommend listening to this book

Fantastic audiobook

I’m personally not a huge fan of multiple actors playing different roles - however, this audiobook does it better than any I’ve listened to so far. 11/10

Only one issue presently

The only part of the book I found difficult to get past was the excessive use of the word 'presently', no complaints with the story or performance. I will definately be queueing the rest of the series.

An Epic

I found the story very engrossing. The production contained both straight readings of the text and some dramatized scenes. It kept the story feeling fresh and interesting.

Although most of the action takes place on the desert planet itself, there is a very well structured universe surrounding it. There are a lot of interesting concepts here and it works very well it the audio format.

A fantastic story. Good pace and narration. Some of the voices were a tad weak but mostly good

simmering classic

yes it's been a long time coming but I've finally ticked Dune of my books I should have read list. Having been introduced to Dune via David Lynch I would say criticism of the film is overly harsh.
biggest difference is Jessica is more pivotal in the story than Cheney... which is interpretation dependant on which element you find crucial and therefore is open to interpretation.
I enjoyed it, whether the foundations laid by my, unpopular view, love of the Lynch movie had any bearing who can say. However, as I venture into the next book in the series... the unknown with little to give reference to I am excited at the prospect of the future
