Wonderful and very amusing

Breaking Dawn is my favourite of the books, it isn't going to the extremes concerning the plot as it is about a coming to age story of a girl in love with a vampire and a wolf. I find Walters impressions of a female voice quite amusing and it made me giggle a few times but it never deferred from the openness and angst of all the characters. I am disappointed that people who are ready to listen to a story concerning mythical creatures and legends are perfectly happy to dismiss the ending of the plot altogether. There is a reason why it's called fiction. Over all a very good read and i find myself hardly picking up the book any more, prefering to listen instead.

narrator why?

love the story, hated the narrator. all her characters sounded the same. I couldn't tell unless I was reading along, when she went from story telling to character speech.

I loved listening to the whole series.

I have listened to these books quite often, they are beautifully read and very easy to follow
I am new to listening to a book and I would love to read them in their written form but my eyes are no longer able to do so.
I have got over being read to and now love hearing them all.

Twilight series goes off the boil

I have read all of the books in this series and really enjoyed the first three so I looked forward to listening to the conclusion. However I have to say that I had some real problems with this book. Before I continue I have to say that I have no problem with happy endings, I like happy endings but in this finale to the series the author has gone to plot twisting ends in order to achieve a happy ending for all her characters. It seems as if she was loathe for her main characters to lose anything in order to gain that happy ending. This led her to give us some plot twists which are quite frankly unbelievable and not true to her characters. She also rewrites the rules she put in place in the first three books. Although she achieves the happy ending I felt that she had actually lost a lot of what made her characters engaging. There are points where you feel that she has got into her stride again but on the whole I wish she had kept this series as a trio. I am sure that there are fans of hers out there who will like this book regardless but it seemed to me that she had almost run out of ideas and was making it up, however unbelievable as she went along.

Pants

I read award winning and thought hmm give it a go.
It was ear vomit.
The story was all padding leading up to an enormous battle at the end, both sides decided wasnt worth the effort went home and the book ended.
Unless you enjoy very long detailed descriptions of the clothes vampires wear get something else Perdido street station was the best ive heard in a while and I dont usually go for that sort of thing

Matt Walters ruins it

Having listened to the others in the series I really struggled to get along with the chapters read by Matt Walters, as Jacob.

Cosy listening - if you like that sort of thing

This is a guilty pleasure of mine. There's holes in the plot and it is make-believe in the extreme, but that's ok. I listen to these books every so often when walking the dog, easy listening, although the narrator's voice is quite irritating, you do get over it eventually

Surprised that I enjoyed the series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend the series - I had not watched any of the films as with the hype made me ambivalent but I decided to give the original book a chance. So glad I did.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love all three of the main characters and they are so well written that you can read the development of their emotions. Even the non-central characters are well written and developed. I really like Edward and the internal turmoil he is going through - the way he is prepared to release Bella if that is for the best because he loves her but also prepared to fight to the very end if that is what is needed. I also love his complete trust.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

I know it is very sentimental but I loved the wedding and ached at Jacobs reaction. I really felt for him but loved the solid commitment made by the married couple.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I cried a few times but during the stand-off when Bella and Edward were saying goodbye to their child made my heartache.

Any additional comments?

I am so glad this series ended correctly. Lots of turmoil and stress but things do work out in the end with one or two twists.
I recently read a well-known thirteen book series which didn't conclude correctly and caused me stress after investing many hours in the story and characters but The Twilight Series was one of the best thing I have read this year. I will not bother to watch the films as the actors never look the way I picture the characters in my imagination.
Well worth reading.

Great Series

Breaking Dawn was propably my least favourite out of the whole series. My favourite was definitely Eclipse! I loved the whole Warewolf/Vampire/Human love triangle. In some ways I agree with another reviewer's comment on leaving the series as a trio. But I think a conclusion of this sort was necessary. At the end I was sad to say goodbye to all the characters and now am eagerly awaiting all the films!
