The way Angela Dawe delivered Trionna had her come off as a truly unlikeable spiteful bitch... but I don't think that was how the written words were meant... The narrator is stellar but the attitude of the one character was SO extreme that I was actually hating her and had to remind myself to hear the words not the speaking... Wonderful book.... but for that one thing.
Credit worthy? Yes!
Heat factor? Verrry low but for a few moments of extreme.
Tears? Not for me...
Laughter? A few good chuckles to be sure.
Violence? Not like most... very little of the bloody battles actually.
"Very good Irish historical romance"
I really liked this book! Yes our heroine Triona was immature at times but still this story has the three elements I need to have on historical romances in order to like them: interesting adventure, hot romance and great narration. This book had all three so I do recommend it if you like Irish/highlander historical romances.
"A good story, loved the narrator"
When Ronan finally gets forgiveness from his foster father, he thinks he will be back in the good graces of the clan, but when Triona, the adopted daughter of the chief becomes his problem, it makes a really good story. She hates him, he only wants to get rid of her. Elizabeth Klett did a wonderful job with the accents and timing of the reading. A good audio book, I enjoyed it a lot.
"I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via AudiobookBlast dot com."
very well writen and narrated. really enjoyed the book. i finished in 1 day i liked it so much
"Good story, so-so narration"
It's hard for me to keep my mind on a story when an accent is faked... and this one was. I guess I would rather it be read straight without an accent that detracts. Since I was leaning toward a so-so for the story itself, I read some of the book without narration. I liked it much better.
"Great narrator, not sure on the story"
Not really. I did not like the leads at all. It just wasn't the right fit for me.
The setting is lovely. I wish I could come across more romances with an Irish flair!
She does a wonderful job with the voices and has a great pace. She is the reason I kept listening long after I was tired of the story. She is definitely a credit to this book.
A heroine who wasn't so whines and annoying? Sorry, she really was not a favorite of mine.
"Wonderful Irish Historical Novel Finally on Audio!"
Wild Angel is a historical romance originally written in 1994 by Miriam Minger. I love historical romance novels, especially Irish/highlander romances set in the 12th and 13th centuries. This novel and audio book did not disappoint. The heroine is a feisty, head strong, red headed warrior and the hero is an "alpha male" Irish rebel who can't help but fall in love with the lass.
The story begins when Chieftain Fineen O'Toole finds 6 month old Triona in the arms of her dead Norman mother in the middle of the forest. He adopts her knowing that a Norman clan wants her dead. She grows up a happy little girl, following underfoot of her older brother Conor and Fineen's Godson, Ronan O'Byrne. After Conor's death at the hands of the Normans, and on Fineen's own deathbed, he makes Ronan vow to become Triona's guardian. He does so, planning to marry her off as soon as possible. In true historical romance fashion, Ronin is jealous of anyone who even looks at Triona, and over time learns to respect her unbreakable spirit.
Elizabeth Klett’s narration is simply fantastic. She really brings the characters to life, giving each character their own distinct voice. She is also able to switch genders and generations with ease.
Simply put, Wild Angel is a wonderful historical romance that lasts the test of time. I highly recommend it!
"Wonderful Irish Historical Romance"
N/A I've not read the print version
I enjoy the swim in the loch as Ronnan, Treaona, and Nile return to the stronghold.
I enjoyed the attitude and wonderful Irish lilt that Ms Klett put into the voice of Treaona.
Battles rage everywhere in Ireland! Between the English Crown and the Irish. Between clans. And between the dark Irish Chieftain of clan O'Byrne and the firey haired adopted daughter of the head of clan O'Toole. And who will win which battles? Only time and love will tell.
