Running for the wrong reason can still get you killed.
Kelli Carpenter has changed her name, her appearance - her life - to avoid being connected to a crime she committed in self defense years ago. But just when she thinks she has nothing to fear, handsome stranger Blake Windsor shows up.
He claims to be the handyman her boss sent to help complete the project she's working on - Camp Getaway - a place where inner city kids will get respite from concrete and drive-bys. Being a loner has kept her alive, and Kelli's instincts tell her to leave. But without Blake's help, the refuge for inner city children won't be completed on time. Against her instincts, she accepts his help.
Blake Windsor is a corporate executive accepted his boss's request to find out if Kelli Carpenter is really a woman his boss thinks he knew years before. He begrudgingly returns to the blue-collar construction lifestyle he vowed to leave behind, hoping doing this favor will advance his career.
The woman he meets bears little resemblance to the woman he's supposed to find, but something about her mystifies him, and he decides to continue with his deception to learn more about her.
When someone makes an attempt on Kelli's life, she runs - but she takes Blake with her. Keep your friends close but your enemies closer is her philosophy. And Kelli is convinced Blake knows something that will link her to her former lover's death, ending her life as she knows it.
What's in a Name? is full of twists and turns as Blake and Kelli try to keep one step ahead of whoever is following them while they try to figure out why.

Yes, it was very riveting!
I really loved this audible book. You have Kelli, KC or Emily depending on where you are the story who is an awesome female character. Strong, intelligent and able to think on her feet. The you have Blake Windsor normally an alpha male with his own strengths but who has been knocked for a loop, literally. Amazing what a concussion can do for you.
I love a good romantic suspense and this was one of the best. I just love it when I don't figure it out, I had a slight suspicion but nothing concrete.
Listen and read this book you will love it.
She really brings the characters alive and gives them each their own unique voice.
"What's in a name"
This was a good read!Kelli Carpenter is working on a project to build a camp for inner city kids.A man comes to her door saying he was hired to help move things along. Is he for real?Did her friend really send this guy or is ha after her?Kelli has changed her name and life numerous times trying to escape a few things in her past.
Blake, the handyman,is not sure this is the woman he was meant to find. There are twists and turns and way too many misunderstandings. It's got two narrators,Pamela Almand and 'The Captains Voice', which I usually find distracting but it worked in this book.
I was given this book for an honest review.
"What's in a Name?"
I liked the mystery. Is Kelli really the person Blake is looking for? Why are people after her at all? Why did Kelli change her life and disappear?
I loved the mystery, Blake and thus, us the readers trying to uncover the truth.
I liked the relationship they build still not knowing one another.
I loved Kelli's character.
The narration was excellent, you could feel the character's anxiety, determination and willingness to carry on despite the odds.
Pamela is a great work and she portrayed Kelli's character perfectly.
I loved the parts were we got to see her intelligence and strength. She isn't a helpless female; she knew how to protect herself.
Pamela's narration added to the enhancement of Kelli's character.
'What's in a Name' has the perfect balance between romance and suspense. It will appear to lovers of both genres.
"Loved this book!"
I loved this book! The characters were well formed and the story line was great! The narrator did a great job also.I would recommend this book to anyone!
"Who is she really???"
The narrator is the reason I listened to this and she has a great voice for this. You can hear the main character becoming all her disguises and try to figure out who she will be next. She does the male characters well, too, without making them all sound fake.
It is a little bit chick lit/romance more than the mystery, but it has some great chase-type mystery to it and takes awhile to figure out.
See the first question. She has a natural deep voice that is good for tough female characters, but can make it softer and more vulnerable and funny, too. She was able to get through all the lead character's personality changs and disguises. She needs to do more serious thrillers by some male authors.
It was a good read with a decent plot. And it was enjoyable without being extreme.
Ms. Almand should do some macho-typ thrillers, Grisham, Baldacci, or even the female writers like Evanovich or Scottolini.
"Great story and narration"
This was a fun suspense book with a touch of romance. Great characters and a terrific plot. Loads of twists and turns.
There is a romance, with sort of open door bedroom scenes. It is more about the overall suspense and less of the smexy romance. It kept me on the edge most of the time and was a really great listen.
There is a really great dynamic between Kelli and Blake, very nicely played out. The book is a mixed narrative, so you get a POV for both of them. It really adds to the story and makes it more engaging to the reader.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Pamela Almand, who always does a great job. I love her voice, really smooth with a touch of rasp. She was terrific at adding just the right level of sass to Kelli. Her male voices held a touch of depth but never went too far. She is always a pleasure to listen to and has a swift pace making the book really move.
Overall, there is a lot of story here, really has many levels and depth. I would love to read more of Ms. Odell's works. She has a great storytelling style that keeps the reader wanting more.
Disclosure - I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts, ratings and opinions are my own.
"A romantic mystery!"
Kelly Carpenter is a woman with a few secrets. Blake Windsor is sent by his boss to check out Kelly to see if she is a woman from the boss's past. At first, Kelly is leery of Blake and his motives but after a few close calls, the two team up to find out who is after Kelly and why.
I really enjoyed this story. This is a nice mystery with romance added. Ms. Almand has a smooth rich voice that lends well to both the male and female characters. I was drawn into the story by her narration. I would recommend this book to any of my friends who want a nice mystery story. I can't wait to listen to other books Ms. Almand has narrated.
It was a great mystery. I suspected, but wasn't quite sure how it would turn out. Beautifully written, though it was a little slow in some spots. I loved that the characters were quirky and not predictable. All in all a wonderful story and I will read more by Terry Odell.
The performance was excellent. The production quality was good, though there was a noticeable change in audio right around the 15 minute mark. It wasn't really a change in quality, it still had good production quality throughout, just a noticeable change in the way the narrator and overall audio sounded. I will definitely listen to more by this narrator.
"I couldn't put it down!"
I really enjoyed both the book and the performance of the book.
I had real trouble putting down my iPod while I was listening to it.
This book is a standalone novel about a woman running from her past. She thinks she has finally gotten away when Blake Windsor comes along. After an attempted attack they're on the run and learn things about each others' past.
The narrator managed to capture the feel of the story without being over-dramatic. Her laid back presentation worked with the characters' personalities, without being dull.
The story is suspenseful and romantic. If you're looking for a great story about overcoming past mistakes, this is the one for you!
