Publisher's Summary

When Eli Block steps into his parents' living room and sees his childhood crush sitting on the couch, he starts a shameless campaign to seduce the young rabbi. Unfortunately, Seth Cohen barely remembers Eli and he resolutely shuts down all his advances. As a tenuous and then binding friendship forms between the two men, Eli must find a way to move past his unrequited love while still keeping his best friend in his life. Not an easy feat when the same person occupies both roles.

Professional, proper Seth is shocked by Eli's brashness, overt sexuality, and easy defiance of societal norms. But he's also drawn to the happy, funny, light-filled man. As their friendship deepens over the years, Seth watches Eli mature into a man he admires and respects. When Seth finds himself longing for what Eli had so easily offered, he has to decide whether he's willing to veer from his safe life-plan to build a future with Eli.

"This new audiobook version is outstanding"
Where does Walk With Me rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

With the new narrator it's jumped up to be among my favourites (which is saying something as I have close to 400 audiobooks, of which there are some brilliant ones).

What did you like best about this story?

Of the Homes series this is my personal favourite, and both Seth and Eli are lovable characters, the wedding disasters are hysterical, and I really like the slow buildup of their relationship.

Have you listened to any of Alexander Collins’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I presume he also narrates under the name Mark Westfield who narrates the THIRDS series, then yes (and they're brilliant too). He's a fantastic narrator in my opinion. He speaks clearly and with the right amount of animation, and he's using (appropriate) sound effects (eg. a "phone"-filter when narrating both sides of phone conversations) and the characters are easily distinguishable.

    Story
"True love overcomes all in this Perfect MM romance"
If you could sum up Walk With Me in three words, what would they be?

    Funny. Loving. Family.

The older man (Seth) who has never been in a gay relationship falls in love with the out and proud Eli. The love story takes a long time to come to fruition with timing problems and barriers of expectations to overcome. The tale includes some the funniest ever wedding disasters that are so brilliantly bad, the poor young Rabbi is sure he's cursed. Hilariously written, the tender relationship between Seth & Eli is a slow burn, but super hot once they get together! The characters are very likeable and drive the story with some of the funniest and scariest Jewish Mother scenes I have ever read or listened to!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Walk With Me?

So many bad wedding disasters! I can't pick just one.

Have you listened to any of Alexander Collins’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Alexander Collins gives this story everything it should have!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definitely, all Cardeno C's books are wonderful.

    Any additional comments?

A must read/listen for Hot MM romance fans.

    "Wonderful!"

I love this story, hilariously funny, the disastrous weddings are just brilliant. Both mcs are warm, sympathetic characters. There is no homophobia, very little angst, a great read and a better listen. The narrator sounds like Mark Westfield, and he delivers a good performance with plenty of feeling. Would highly recommend.

Looking for narration that will have you laughing out loud, blushing at the sexy times, and cheering at the HEA? Look no further – Walk With Me delivers on all fronts. Filled with humor, hotness, and pure happiness Alexander Collins delivers a spotless performance.

I love Seth and Eli SO much!

Their story takes place over thirteen years, allowing you to really get to know Seth and Eli and to root for them to be together. This isn’t a typical insta-love story. There is definitely relationship building and some major UST. When the sexy times finally commence after the slow, slow burn? Let’s just say Seth may be professional and proper in the pulpit, but he is a freak in the sheets, and me likee. Me likee long time.

This is also one of Cardeno’s funniest stories. Seriously, there are so many laugh out loud moments in this, I can’t even count them all, but I sure am grateful for them. The invitations at the beginning of each chapter are hysterical, and all the wedding shenanigans and fails are worth listening to the narration for alone.

Low angst, humor, heat, and light fluffy goodness – fans of the Home series collection (and newcomers alike) should be absolutely delighted with the story and narration performance. The story and narration is perfect!

    HIGHLY AND DECIDEDLY RECOMMENDED!!

"Great writing, needs a different narrator."
What did you like best about Walk With Me? What did you like least?

I really enjoyed watching Eli grow up and stand steadfast in his feelings for Seth.
I didn't care much for the narrator.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Walk With Me?

The fish graveyard reception! Cupcakes and nail glue, it was hysterical.
OH, maybe the drunk pole dancing bridesmaid.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

He didn't use a strong enough change in tone/voice for the two main characters. I sometimes couldn't figure out exactly who was talking at different times.

Was Walk With Me worth the listening time?

Not so much, I think I would have loved this book if I had read it.

    Any additional comments?

Eli Block has known who he is and who he wants since he was eleven years old. Six years later that person is not only back in his life, but in his living room. Too bad Seth doesn’t even remember young Eli. Not one to give up when he sets his mind to it, Eli pulls out all the stops in an effort to make Seth notice him. Eventually Eli takes a step back and goes through the motions of living his life. He graduates, goes to college and gets his degree in Music and Teaching, has a series of boyfriends, but nothing or no one every truly replaces the longing he holds for Seth.

Seth Cohen has always kept Eli at arms-length, always tried to convince himself that he is not gay. When Eli extends an olive branch, asking to be friends, Seth graciously accepts and the two become best friends. They talk about everything, and when the time comes, Eli helps Seth pick out his home. As the years pass and Seth stands on the sideline watching Eli grow, make mistakes and try to learn from them, he also watches Eli become a man. A man that Seth is starting to think he wants to be more than just friends with.

I really adored Eli Block. He was tenacious, loyal and unwavering in his love for Seth. It took Seth a while to get on board, and early on I could completely understand why. Seth wasn’t in a place to openly admit or accept being attracted to another man, and there was the age difference. But once Seth’s feelings started to change, it annoyed me that he went out of his way not to talk to Eli about it. I loved the chapter headers in this book, the comic relief with the various weddings and the shenanigans that people got up to. I think the fish graveyard reception was perhaps my favorite.

This is the first book narrated by Alexander Collins I’ve listened to and I wasn’t really impressed. At times I couldn’t tell who was talking, Seth or Eli, he chose such similar tones for the two main characters and that was confusing and frustrating. He seemed to put more effort into the secondary characters than Seth and Eli. I won’t say I wouldn’t listen to another book he voices, but I don’t think I’ll go out of my way to grab something of his either.

The story itself was pretty good, as I said, the sort of angst aspect with Seth figuring out his sexuality and keeping Eli in the dark bothered me, but overall I thought the writing and concept were great… the narration, not so much.

I've been waiting for this story to be released in audiobook format since it was released in its e-book version - finally.. I love the fact that there is no 'real drama' and the wedding fiascos are the icing on the cake for me 😂 I'm excited to find out that the second edition of the Home series will be performed by this narrator and am anticipating the re-release of each and every one. Alexander (Mark) is a wonderful addition to Cardeno's stable of narrators. Can't wait...

    "sweet listen"

Cardeno C is one of my go-to authors where I sometimes really really love the story and sometimes just enjoy. This is not one of my favourits but absolutely not last on my CC list. I liked Eli very much and his personality is the main reason why the story works. The story is build up kind of like the movie four weddings and a funeral with Seth being the link - since he is the one performing the ceremonies. The story is sweet but not that complicated and no real surprises but that is not always a bad thing - its just not really exciting either. So - all in all - enjoyable but not exceptional. AC does an excellent job narrating.

***Audiobook provided to Bayou Book Junkie in exchange for a fair and honest review. ***

Eli has had a crush on Seth Cohen since he was eleven years old, before he even knew what having a crush meant. Once he realizes Seth is his father's new apprentice rabbi he tries to insert himself into the straight rabbi's life, but he's too young for Seth, so Eli has to settle on being his friend.

Seth has never imagined he could be interested in men, but he's attracted to Eli and once he gets to know him and their friendship grows, he can't stop himself from falling for his best friend. Eli's nine years younger than him, though, and Seth has to discover if he really likes men, so it makes for some interesting times. In the meantime, he's saddled performing themed weddings that put his patience and his work ethic to the test at each step of the way.

This was one of my favorite stories in the Home Series. It's fun as hell, sweet and all-around amazing and Alexander Collins managed to make it even better! I have to admit that I preferred his Eli's voice to Seth's, but that might be because Eli is more vibrant and bubbly than Seth. Still, the chemistry and the love between them comes across quite nicely in this audiobook. I loved all the different voices, all the inflections, and the character the narrator gave the story. It made an already awesome story into an outstanding audiobook.

    "Walking together to happiness"

This was my first book in the Home Series, yes I went way out of order. It was also my first book by narrator Alexander Collins. I admit at first I didn't like the narration, in-fact had I not been driving to work I may have turned it off and said, No. However, I am glad I continued and kept listening because this narrator, once you get used to him really does a good job. He adds little extras such as changing the tone slightly based on what a character is doing, for instance during a phone conversation he actually made it sound like a phone call does -I appreciated his ingenuity. So if you are like me..give this book a chance.

Story wise, again this was my first exposure to the characters of the Home series. So, I think it's safe to say you can enjoy the books out of order. This story starts out sorta slow as we watch Eli grow from a teenager lusting after his Associate Rabbi Seth Cohen, and Seth thwarting his advances. There were some laugh out loud moments during these years and some moments where I wanted to just scream at Seth to get off his high-horse and give in to poor Eli. Then there were moments where I really didn't like Seth because he seemed to always give Eli a glimmer of hope just when Eli was going to move on. Overall, I appreciate the way Cardeno C brought these two together and how we got to watch them not only mature in age but emotionally and mentally as well, in the end they become each other's safe place -each other's home. Another great story from CC ~ Can't wait for more!

    Any additional comments?

Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian I Dig Good Books. I was gifted a copy of this book.

Eli lusted, yes lusted after Seth since he first saw him at summer camp. Now, Seth is the junior Rabbi where Eli's father is chief Rabbi and Eli begins a campaign to get Seth in his bed, But Seth has had girlfriends in the past, and is unsure exactly what he wants.

I really enjoyed this tale of waiting for what you really want! It takes place over a number of years, and while its a case of instalove for Eli, Seth is a much slower burn. Since Seth makes it clear in the beginning that he isnt interested, Eli decides on a friends-is-better-than-nothing. It takes Eli finding out something that rocks him to his core, to make Seth see what or rather WHO he really wants.

What made this for me, was the slow burn. It really is a beautiful thing to behold. The way Eli creeps up on Seth, befriending him and entrenching himself in Seth's life until there is no one else, is amazingly written. Its beautifully worded! I loved it! And I didn't expect this to be funny, but the wedding diasters?? oh, they are proper laugh out loud moments, I mean proper!! Hilarious!

Told from both men's POV, we get the whole picture. And its a fabulous picture, thank you CC!

**originally read oct 2013, but didn't write a review, so went sent as part of the blog tour, I reread**

    **AUDIO REVIEW**

I was also gifted an audio copy of this book. I enjoy listening to books I have already read, but not the other way round.

Alexander Collins narrates. This is the first of his work I have listened to. Its also the first book I have listened to that is in the first person, and it flips between Eli and Seth, and is a single narrator. I'm not sure I liked it.

Its just that Collins' voice for each character is so very similar, I found it hard to differentiate between the two at times. It may be that my crappy hearing just couldn't separate them, or it may be the way Collins portrays the two voices. I don't know.

I did, that point aside, enjoy the way Collins told the story. The weddings come across really well, although not quite as well as when I was reading. I didn't pick up when reading, the scene after Seth returns to Eli after Eli found out what he did. The one in the morning. I mean, I read it, and I understood it, but hearing it gave me that little bit extra to enable me to fully get how dumbfounded Eli was that all his dreams had come true. How frustrated Seth was, that Eli just wasn't getting it fast enough!

I'd like to listen to a different piece of Collins' work, something in the third person.

so, because of the voice thing..

    4 stars for the narration
    4 stars for the book,
    4 overall.

    Story
"Super sappy wonderful story with awesome narration"

Cardeno’s home series is one of my all time favs! In previous books we’ve met the established couple, Eli and Seth, but now we get to hear their love story.

Eli is a young 18 year old when the story begins. He’s the son of the rabbi that Seth is working for. It turns out that the two had met even before this, when Eli was even younger and at summer camp. Seth had managed to really make an impression on the oh-so-horny Eli and Eli isn’t afraid to let him know.

Seth, who identifies as straight to begin, only sees Eli as son of his boss, and kind of a pest at first. Eli is over the top flirty and ridiculous with cheesy innuendos and come ons.
Over the years, Seth and Eli develop a deep and abiding friendship. Seth listens to Eli’s discovery of sex and his troubles in finding a boyfriend and Eli listens to Seth’s horrible wedding stories – there are so many of them!

It hurts to be rejected over and over, so eventually Eli decides to move on. He tries to date other guys, but not one of them ends up being “the one”.

After literally years, Eli finishes college and moves home to work on a PhD. Finally – Finally! Seth acknowledges that the “crush” Eli feels for him is more than that and the friendship they share can be so much more. He wrestles briefly with the fact that Eli is a man and not the woman he thought he’d end up with, but in the end his love for Eli and his willingness to explore lead them both to a real relationship of both friendship, super hot sex and love.

    **

Eli is a hoot! He’s cheeky, brash, sometimes insecure and always honest. He never hides his emotions and that is truly refreshing.

Seth is a true nice guy. He puts up with so much – not just from Eli but also from his job! It was great watching their relationship grow- oh so slowly – over the years and when they do finally come together it is super-nova HOT!

Seth is surprisingly kinky and it’s wonderful to see Eli finally have the tables turned on him!

I thoroughly enjoyed this series and this ranks among the top as my favorite in the series.

(I love the new covers – this is my favorite – they are so damn cute!)

    Audiobook

Alexander Collins sounds pretty much exactly like Mark Westfield… so I’m not sure what the name thing is all about but…
No matter what he calls himself, he does an absolutely amazing job with this! He does this great thing when there are phone calls or people in the hallway, it really makes it sound distinct and different like the people are talking from a distance. I found it really added to the story and made it seem even more like it was a movie or something. It definitely felt more realistic and made me even more immersed in the story. He does a passable Jewish accent ( although sometimes it sounded kind of Indian…) I loved this book and this narration made it even better! I highly recommend both the story and the narration!
