Jenna McGovern has spent her whole life training for the stage. She's taken dance classes, voice lessons, and even earned her performance degree from one of the most prestigious musical theater programs in the nation. At graduation, she's stunned when a chance audition lands her a prime supporting role in the hottest Broadway touring production in the country. In more exciting news, Jenna discovers acclaimed television star Adrienne Kenyon is headlining the production.
Jenna settles easily in to life on tour and has a promising career laid out in front of her, if only she plays her cards right. She's waited for this opportunity her entire life and will let nothing stand in her way. The one thing she didn't prepare for, however, was Adrienne. Her new costar is talented, beautiful, generous, and the utmost professional. Probably my favourite Melissa Brayden book
At first I really wasn’t sure what I made of it being written in the first person. I’ve listened to almost all of Melissa Brayden’s books these past few months. I think however it’s been my favourite way of hearing the story. Betsy Zajko does a phenomenal job of being the character to life. I’d love to hear a follow up to their story.

I've loved listening to this one
Waiting in the Wings will go straight into my favorites to listen to again later. All the characters are well filled out and believable and I will miss the main characters, especially Jenna, who I feel like I know and would love to have as a friend. The back stories of theatre and film are well researched and bring added interest and believability to Melissa Brayden's well written story. Betsy Zajko does a good job differentiating the characters and conveying the mood of the story.

A heartwarming second chance romance!
I loved this story of Jenna and Adrienne from the opening chapter. It combines a beautifully constructed romance with the fascinating world of musical theatre and film.
Melissa Brayden is a talented and engaging author and given this was actually her first novel it’s an impressive debut.
Betsy Zajko does a great job with the narration, reading with a fluidity that brought the pages to life. (Her English accent isn’t great, but it didn’t detract from my enjoyment of her narration).

The storyline was better than I expected. The narrator was okay, I wouldn't more different voices for the characters, but she has a nice voice.

Excellent
Good story and characters with great performance by Betsy Zajko.
Having listened to the Soho Loft series by Melissa Brayden this story is longer and has more depth. All recommended.

Good first novel.
I wish I'd realised this book was the first from this author. I'd judged it by the dates on audible and ended up listening to Kiss The Girl first. This story was good, but in comparison to Kiss The Girl you can tell the writing isn't quite as sharp or finessed. Still a fantastic debut, and significantly better than most other lesbian novels I've read.
I really like the length of these novels, they're reasonably substantial. I was unsure about the characters, I didn't find them as likeable. Jenna seemed very immature and Adrianne quite spoiled. It also felt like they were both sometimes unbelievably stupid or obtuse and completely oblivious to what was going on around them simply to drive the story forward. This didn't feel like an issue in the authors later novel though.
I wasn't sold on the reader. Her voice was quite raspy and it didn't really fit the characters. It pulled me out of the story a bit.
This review seems negative and so I want to end by saying that this story is an excellent lesbian rom com. If I'd read it before others from this author I'm sure I'd have been delighted so please, listen or read and then move onto to her other books and I'm sure you'll love them all!

Wow!
This romance captivated me from the beginning - this is not your bog standard romance. It has some twists and turns I wasn’t expecting. The story between Jenna and Adrienne had me laughing, smiling and pecking away a few tears. I’ve read and listened to Melissa Brayden’s books and she always delivers on storyline and characters. The narrator, Betsy Zajko, made this novel come alive - she got into the characters and conveyed all the emotions in the novel. Simply fantastic. Do yourself a big favour and spend your Audible credit on this one!
