Summary

When young Elliot gets a labourer's job at Mr Evans' after being sacked from a pig farm for liberating six sows, he thinks he'll have even more opportunities to lean on gates or stare at fields. But Elliot’s best mate Spike keeps getting him into trouble, first by showing him what is being grown in a tucked-away polytonal, and then turning up at his caravan with a van full of weed.

As Elliot tries to help his friend get rid of the hot merchandise, they find themselves at the receiving end of a cruel cat-and-mouse game.

wonderful!

A truly truly fantastic listen. Great writing - poetic yet pacy. Really cared about the characters and the reading is brilliant. Refers to another book by the author - Isabel's Skin - in a very clever way. Would have given it even more stars if I could.

Any additional comments?

I thoroughly enjoyed this and was drawn in from the first paragraph, was gutted when my journey had to break. Found myself driving more slowly so that I could eke out the tale. Entertaining with laugh out loud moments it is extremely well narrated. Believable characters, wonderful folklore, beautiful descriptives that enthral and bring the landscapes alive. Excellent narration.
I can't believe that anyone would not enjoy this and highly recommend.
