Rook Walsh is tragic. Because life so far - just sucks. Some girls get parents. Rook got the foster care system. Some girls get Prince Charming. Rook got an abusive frog. Some girls get lucky.... Rook got a second chance. And she took it. Because when fate throws you a bone - you grab it with both hands and run.

Rook is paired up with top model Ronin, and he's everything her abusive ex-boyfriend wasn't. Patient, gentle, happy, attentive, and sexy! He knows exactly what to do to make Rook blush for Antoine's camera.
Rook's luck changes in an instant and suddenly she's the darling of the modeling world. It's a dream job to go with a dream guy and all she has to do is look pretty and follow directions. But there's always a price to pay - and Rook is about to get the bill.

"A mix of romance & erotic art= intriguing story!"
Looking for something refreshing, sexy, a bit different? This book caught me off guard and I loved it! I had no idea what to expect. Tragic was original and well written story. It's a satisfying, fast yet well-paced New Adult Romance. I unexpectedly came across the book and completely devoured it in one sitting. If you love the NA genre then this is one you do not want to miss out! It had all the qualities I enjoy.... great characters, engaging story, lots of sexual chemistry! This story is told in alternating povs of Rook Walsh and Ronin Flynn, which I truly adore. Rook is a former foster care child who has escaped from a controlling abusive relationship. She is currently living in a shelter and recently finds herself unemployed. She gets a lucky break when she spends her last $10 at Starbucks. This chance encounter has fate leading her to photographer Antoine and his upcoming TRAGIC campaign. When the famous erotic photographer, Antoine Chaput, sees Rook he knows right away he wants her to pose for his TRAGIC photo shoot. She lands the role that turns her life around for the better despite finding herself out of her comfort zone and modeling exotic shoots with charming Ronin. Ronin Flynn is a model but also takes care/manages the girls and he’s decided he wants to take care of Rook. Ronin and Rook are paired together to do the TRAGIC shoot. Rook isn’t used to the modeling world, she doesn’t really know what she is doing, but Ronin helps her. He takes care of her, protects her. The playful bantering & flirting between Rook and Ronin is delivered in an almost exhibitionist style. Rook and Ronin’s chemistry explodes both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. Rook and Ronin's sexual chemistry was off the charts HOT. Their photo sessions together were panty melting. I admired Rook for many reasons. .. from her courage to leave a controlling, abusive relationship to her determination to succeed, to be independent and rely solely on herself. This book had a great story line, awesome characters, and sexy scenes. It was different, it was raw, it was real, it was HOT, it was heart-breaking, it was sweet, it was funny! The story pulled me into the world of Erotic photography and all that comes with it. I can’t wait for Rook and Ronin’s story to continue and look forward to more books by JA Huss. TRAGIC was a very spicy hot book, especially when they were shooting any photo scenes between Rook and Ronin. The sexual tension between them was amazingly perfect!
The thing that is tragic is the way it ended. Where is the next book? I can't wait.
"Wow... so much more than I expected."
This book was a pleasant surprise. The characters were engaging, funny at times, but most of all real. The backstory of both main characters though definitely TRADGIC, was also Intriguing and not at all out of place with the story as so many books come across. The romance is also real, not just cheesy chemistry and sex. The chemistry between Rook and Ronin manages to be hot while at the same time not exaggerated by explicit sex. J. A. Huss's writing is superb. Both narators did a fantastic job. Definitely worth a credit. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
"It leaves you hanging. this says Book 1. but...."
This story just ends....NO book 2 that I can find.....I was so let down and aggravated ! I read FORD first and it does have these characters in it BIT when I read this book there was NO mention of FORD....so I thought there is one Ive missed but I scerched and can't find another!!!!
"5 Gidget Stars!"
There is something about Rook and Ronin that I just can't get enough of.
You never know what will happen when you spend your last $10 on coffee.
I love everything about this story. I love how Rook and Ronin meet, I love how they interact professionally and I love how they interact privately. Such a fresh and unique story.
"Great story, great narrators"
Yes, I've read the book and loved it in audible form sooooo much. Can't wait for the rest of them.
J. A. Huss is one of my favorite authors. Her writing style is edgy, twisted a lot of times, and always addicting. I can't pick out one moment that really stood out, but I loved the book.
Tough call on which character is my favorite. Both Rook and Ronin have great sides to them that I enjoyed getting to know. I love them as a couple.
Yes, but I try to stop listening so it will last longer. The audio version went way faster from what I remember the book (reading) version going.
Can't say enough how much I love this author and CANNOT WAIT FOR the rest in the series to hit Audible!
Awesome story. Loved it that there were 2 narrators to match the dual POV in the story. Especially Ronin's narrator - loved him!
"This story is definitely NOT Tragic...."
This was a light read that I enjoyed very much. The story was quite creative and finally someone came up with a unique life situation. Rook is herself quite a Tragic story. Girl on the streets in desperate need of a break that comes in the form of an erotic photo agency. Ronin becomes her partner, protector and helps Rook build herself back up after being beaten down by life. I found the story erotic but not nasty, sweet with a bit of grit. The secondary characters are interesting and well developed and hopefully we'll get to know them better in the next book It's not super long so I was able to listen in one day while I cleaned house. Looking for a New Adult Romance? Try peeking into Rook and Ronin's life, I think you'll find it quite interesting....
"LOVE This Book"
Rook and Ronin...My favorite book to read and re-read. This may be the most listened to book in my Audible Library so far. I can't believe that I have never reviewed it before.
A love story like no other. Rook is Tragic. She is a desperate runaway from a life that was filled with pain and anguish. You will need to read this book to get those details which are written in great detail and spoon fed throughout her story.
JA Huss masterfully writes the characters and their stories with compassion, intellect and enough suspense to keep you turning the pages. I found the books unable to put down. Stayed awake up for 2 days finishing them, only to go back and start again.
This version simply takes away the page turning and brings the story to life. And what a story ! It has become one of my favorites.
I have been a most annoying fan begging for the Manic and Panic to add to my collection.
You all must hear the voices of her characters ...They are as breathtakingly sexy as the story itself. This is my comfort go to book to listen to and has been since my purchase. I have listened to Tragic countless times.
Just buy it and listen to the story unfold.
I need the remaining Books to complete my set. So when I can no longer read...I will always be able to hear the story Rook & Ronin. To me this is one of my all time. favorites. Book one available...Give it a listen. I promise you will not be disappointed.
"Strong story, good narration"
Tragic is one of my favorite Huss stories, and it was a treat to listen to the audio – the narrators brought the characters to life perfectly!
At the beginning of listening to Tragic, I had a little trouble with the male narrator, especially because his French accent didn’t sound French at all, but also because he made a very squeaky voice when he was sharing something Rook said, but from Ronin’s point of view. The female narrator nailed it, though, and most of the chapters were from Rook’s perspective, so I was completely gone in the story very quickly.
I read the whole Rook and Ronin series a while ago, and listening to Tragic brought some things to my attention that I hadn’t noticed when I read it myself. First of all, I thought Rook seemed much more fragile and vulnerable than she did when I read about her. And that brought another layer both to this story, and what I know will come later on in the series.
As get more used to listening to audiobooks, I also want more and more of them to listen to! I know the rest of the Rook and Ronin series will be released in audio at a later time, and I can’t wait. Huss has such skills when it comes to telling stories, and her characters are always incredibly flawed, which somehow makes me love them even more! Having narrators tell me the stories just brings out another level of enjoyment for me.
