Publisher's Summary

From the best-selling author of Hello from the Gillespies and The House of Memories comes a warm and captivating story of family secrets, traditions and ties.

As a child Maggie Faraday grew up in a lively, unconventional household in Tasmania, with her young mother, four very different aunts and eccentric grandfather. With her mother often away, all four aunts took turns looking after her - until, just weeks before Maggie's sixth birthday, a shocking event changed everything.

Twenty years on Maggie is living alone in New York City when a surprise visit from her grandfather brings a revelation and a proposition to reunite the family. As the Faradays gather in Ireland, Maggie begins to realise that the women she thought she knew so intimately have something to hide.

Those Faraday Girls is a rich and complex story full of warmth, humour and unforgettable women. Spanning several countries and 30 years, it is a deeply moving novel about family secrets and lies and how the memories that bind us together can also keep us apart.

    Story
    "A warming family saga"
Would you listen to Those Faraday Girls again? Why?

Yes. After the first half-hour I began to warm to the characters and wanted to know what would happen to them

Who was your favorite character and why?

Maggie, once she was an adult; coping well with having five mothers! Leo, too, although his character was the least developed.

Did Ulli Birvé do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?

No. I thought her efforts at Mancunian and Irish accents were awful, as was her pronunciation of Donegal. She could have tried to make each sister sound a bit different, but her reading was not bad enough to spoil the story.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    No

    Any additional comments?

I would have liked to have heard more about Tessa, who appeared as a very unlikeable character and I would have liked to have learned more about Leo.

The story was a bit predictable but a nice listen.
Easy to identify with some character traits from each of the characters.
