Stella's mama never should've put Stella on the church prayer list. With Stella's 27th birthday coming up fast, Nancy desperately wants to see her daughter married and giving her grandbabies. Petitioning heaven seems like a surefire way to get it done. But in Cadillac, Texas, where the gossip's hotter than the city's famous jalapeño peppers, it isn't long before all hell breaks loose.
Heather, the bossy leader of the church's Prayer Angels, thinks a summer ball will get Stella and the town's other single gals paired off. But nobody can tell redheaded spitfire Stella what to do - not her mama, not Heather, and not even the sexy beau Stella's been seeing in secret. Together, Stella, her best friends Charlotte and Piper, and the loyal customers of the Yellow Rose Beauty Shop hatch a good old-fashioned scheme to sabotage the ball. But will it wreck Stella's relationship with her mama forever? And what will the church folk think when Stella reveals the identity of her mystery man?

"love her books!"
This is the third book I have read by this Author- love these books. Characters are always great, make you laugh out loud.
"Great southern romance but lose the song lyrics"
Find my Daughter a husband, this is the sign at the local church that gets put up after a prayer request. Needless to say things did not go as planned, daughter was upset with her mama and good intentions were quickly turned into bad ideas. This story was filled with good old Southern charm, the narrator did a great job keeping us in the southern mindset. I think the main reason I enjoyed the book so much was due to the narrator, when I focused on the actual wording of the book it lost some of it's charm. I think the author tried to hard to throw in all the cliches possible. I also hate when song lyrics take up most of a chapter, oh how he sang to her.... It's not your work, I have no problem with a song line being thrown out there, or a song title but lets not loose an entire chapter to a song.
"Disappointing, could have been much better"
The story is good but it could have been told better and I did not care for the narrator. Every other word is damn, hell or shit which was completely unnecessary. In addition, all the cursing did not fit with the setting of a small, southern town in Texas. The story centers around the ladies of the town church. I feel like the book was written by a novice author.
I absolutely loved this book. It made me laugh through out. The characters were so real; they drew me in to Cadillac.
This is a funny, heartwarming story. Easy to listen to, especially on the beach. If you're looking for something light and easy. Have a listen and enjoy.
Loved the characters. This reminds us all that churches are not perfect, faith is good, and long time friends are precious! I laughter a lot. Found the characters interesting and the plot fun. The depth is yours to find or leave.
"Smiles, laughs, surprises...."
I'm a sucker for Texas contemporary fiction. This story is delightful and the characters are great. Excellent title for easy listening; kept me entertained thru a bunch of housework! If you hate listenin' to a Texas draaaawllll, this ain't the book for ya...
"This book is hilarious!"
I loved this book as it kept me laughing. As I grew up in a small town in Texas I could relate to the antics of the people of Cadillac, Texas. If you want to relax and enjoy a good story from a great narrator, this is the book for you.
"Tough to even finish"
Story and characters lacked depth. Predictable, simplistic and boring. I had a hard time finishing the book.
I understand that the narrator was trying to give the characters authentic dialect and accents, but it was painful. It was irritating to listen to and the improper use of grammar drove me nuts.
Disappointment. Poorly written drivel.
Sorry, but for me this is a load of fluff. No real story line, silly characters, and the narrator was only marginal. People actually gave this a 5 star?
