"Nice second book in the series"
This is a very sweet romance that flows nicely. Totally clean, no smexy stuff going on here.
I generally liked the story but found Stephen to be arrogant most of the time. Had I been Elizabeth, I might have slapped him a time of two. Fortunately things work out nicely in the end.
Really great cast and I expect to see some of the supporting characters as leads in other books in the series.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Pearl Hewitt, who does a great job. She has a really lovely voice that makes the read more enjoyable. Her pace is swift and really moves along keeping the pace steady. Her voices were fabulous and really consistent. I will definitely look for more of her work.

"Love this book!"
I loved how the narrator did the different voices for the different characters. I also love the author and how she tells a story.
The characters and their different personalities and how they associate with each other.
Yes. It is better that the last one I heard, which was the first book in this series. I think I liked her even better this time because I was used to her voice and how she would change it for the different characters.
High-stakes for the brave of heart.
I have loved every book by this author! She is an amazing story teller, and the narrator makes this book very enjoyable.
"GREAT!!! Get it for your collection!"
Yes, I would listen to The Wagered Bride again, because this book draws you end. The audible ebook allows you to listen to the book and relax. This is great especially if you are getting off of work and can play this before you go to bed. Or if you decide to take a bath and want to read a book but hate how you always get your book wet. The audible ebook allows you to listen to it with out any worries. I love this book and I love how this is now an audible ebook.
For me I love how Elizabeth has a passion in her and how Stephan never has it easy for her. I love all the characters in this book. All the characters is all unique and bring certain dynamics to this story.
I had listen to Peral Hewitt performances before and I believe it still the best. I think she did a good job on this audible ebook.
There was many moments in this book that moved me but I am not going to revel any, because I don't want it to be a spoil anything.
This is a GREAT book. If you love the first audible ebook, I would recommend that you should buy the second audible ebook. Mrs. McCarthy is a wonderful author. The audible ebook bring this book alive. For me, the audible ebook is great for anyone who likes to multitask and loves book. For me, I love it in book, ebook, or in audible format. The audible ebooks has come in handy many times. This did not disappoint!
"Another fun historical from Teresa McCarthy"
GAH! I love this family! Don’t get me wrong, many of the characters in the Clearbrook family (and their new and/or soon-to-be extended families) can be absolutely infuriating sometimes. But the story is so funny, and so much fun!
This time, it’s Stephen’s turn in the hot seat, along with one Miss Elizabeth Shelby. Their story is one of mis- (or total lack of) communication. And a lack of trust between each other. But since they’re total and complete strangers at the beginning of the story, this is kind of understandable.
The villain from the first Clearbrook story is back, and more ridiculous and gross than ever.
However, Elizabeth doesn’t know his true nature, and believes he loves her. Which made me want to slap her and tell her to wake up and smell the roses. :)
I think my favorite secondary character in this story is Elizabeth’s little sister, Millie. She is a riot! And I am secretly hoping that a few years down the line, she will be marrying another of the Clearbrook brothers. (But who knows!) Elizabeth’s aunt Polly, as well as the mother of the Clearbrook clan come in a close second behind Millie. They had surprising reactions to these two characters’ situation, and they had me laughing out loud multiple times.
I found myself constantly yelling at my phone while listening to this story, like I do when I yell at the television during a football game. I enjoyed telling the characters when they were being stupid, and cheering and clapping when they were being brilliant.
All in all, this was another fun historical, and I can’t wait to read (listen) to the next one!
"Not the most exciting"
I think this story could have been told in half the time. I found it to be a bit boring, repetitive and drawn out.
