Officer Noel Carlson isn't out to anyone in small-town Stratton, Pennsylvania, so a relationship is out of the question. That doesn't stop him from wanting one, though.
When a night-shift call brings him face-to-thonged-butt with a hired stripper whose girl-party gig went terribly wrong, Noel takes pity on the guy and lets him go. But he can't get the encounter out of his mind.
Shane has big-time debts to repay, especially to the brother who sacrificed nearly everything for him. His two jobs, in a deli and as a stripper, leave him no time for a social life. But a non-date of hot sex and takeout food with Noel? He can squeeze that in.
The bond they form is stronger than either expected or wanted. Especially since the step Shane's about to take to put his brother - and his soul - back in the black isn't quite legal. And he never calculated just how much his determination to make things right will cost him in the end.

A fantastic story, at the right length with a realistic and believable plot.
Really touching and deep.
"Great story and performance"
Noel and Shane are two flawed men who meet when Noel (a cop) rescues Shane from being drugged at his latest stripper party. Shane and his brother Jason are deep in debt due to past medical and legal bills. Shane feels responsible for the debt so he strips and secretly does porn to help pay off debt. Noel is from a poor family and has secrets of his own. As they try to figure out how to be with each other, Shane's brother suffers another medical set back and more financial hardship ensues. Shane feels he has no choice but to double down on the porn to make more money. Of course, secrets never stay secret for long. I enjoyed that the story didn't end with the MCs getting together. In fact, that was just the beginning of a roller coaster relationship. There was a truly unexpected event that I did not see coming that really tests one of the men's commitment to the relationship. There is also the introduction of the next books couple, which I will buy when it comes out on audio. The narrator does a great job at bringing these men to life. His performance of the emotions the book calls for was right on target.
I liked how this one was written. The author did a great job conveying the feelings experienced by the characters in the story.
A must hear for anyone. Plan to seek out more from this author. The narration was good also.
"Hopefull and sad"
The story about shane and the guy he falls for kinds of takes a backseat for me in this book. It is of cause there and it actually comprises a lot of the time but my heart bleeds for the story of the Two brothers and their Bond that is formed from love, grief, pain and sacrifices. And it made me cry. I guess that is the best recommendation i Can give it - but i do not Think you should listen to this book for the HEA. The narrator is good - i Think he is from a southern State because he kinds of clips his words and sometimes Sounds like he is speaking around a potato. But i like it - it kinds of helps with the small town feel, but it May irritate native speakers since im not sure if he does it On purpose or it actually is the Way he talks - and an American will probably be able to tell the difference.
"Great story, bad narrator. "
I'm definitely new to this type of book but the story wad very good. The narrator should have done a little research because not only did he continually mispronounce one of the main character's names, he messed up on quite a few other words as well.
"Is anyone vetting these audiobooks?"
I have to wonder if the authors of books turned into audiobooks even get to hear what's being done to their stories. Having to hear one of the main character's names Noel (as in Nol Coward) pronounced 'no-elle' as in 'The First Noel" thousands of times I have to ask, is the narrator an idiot? Didn't anyone bother to listen to this audiobook before it was released. And there were plenty of other mistakes. The narrations often make or break these books - in this case the latter.
