#1 New York Times bestselling author Stephanie Laurens returns with the next in her Cynster Sisters series...
The Honorable Miss Mary Cynster always gets what she wants. As the last unwed Cynster of her generation, she is determined to remain in charge of her life and of the man she will marry. At the very bottom of her list of potential husbands is Ryder Cavanaugh, the daring and devastating Marquess of Raventhorne, an overwhelming and utterly unmanageable lion of the ton. But destiny has a different plan.
Ryder needs Mary as his wife, not just because she is delightful, fiery, and tempting, but because he values all she could be. When fate and circumstance hand him the chance, he claims Mary as his marchioness... only to discover what he truly desires is not just to take her hand in marriage, but to capture her heart.

I get very bored when doing house chores, so I go around with my iPhone or iPad in my pocket and listen to Audible while cooking or ironing.
I usually like romantic stories in a period setting, this one was too much in every sense, too much narrator commentary on philosophy of life and preaching on family values; too much description in sex episodes and too frequent episodes, whether justified by the plot.
No dense of humor.
Also, the author could well have spared us. The interminable last chapter with the families reunion. And overall, she could have cut the dross of unnecessary narrator commentary and inflated sex scenes by at least 3 hours worth of narration.
Sometimes one line of allusive phrasing, which sparks the reader/listener's imagination, is worth a thousand words of repetitive droning and graphic portrayal and moves the action to a faster, more exciting pace.
I can't really choose one.....all good!
This one was better
Romance with the "right" amount of spice.
I'm glad Stephanie FINALLY got back to romance & the amount of spice in her early Cynster books. The history is ALWAYS good...the romance/spice makes the series.
"Another Good Addition to the Cynster Legacy!"
I have read every book in the Cynster legacy, and this book is another good one, especially for those who have read the prior books. Mary Cynster is the last unwed woman of her generation in the family. She is small, but totally bossy, head-strong and determined to remain in control of her live. Ryder Cavanaugh is the large, extremely handsome, head-strong Marquess of Raventhorne. Ryder decided that Mary was perfect to be his wife, but he had to work to convenience her. Mary was fascinated with his handsome face, but she was worried that she could not control him. Their courtship was filled with a battle of wills.
Someone tried to kill both Ryder and Mary. This part of story line was very predictible, but it served the purpose of brining Mary and Ryder' closer together, and it also brough them closer to Ryder's step-sibilings, which I have no doubt will be spin-off books in the future.
I am not crazy about the narrator Matthew Brenher. His famale voices are very annoying. I just turned the speed to 1.25x and it made it less painful.
I'm looking forward to another Cynster book!
"Good story ruined by stultifying narration"
I love this story, and looked forward to having it in my Audible library
I love the story
The performance was boring and tedious
On and on about nothing. Edit out all the repeats and the novel would be a quarter of the length. Not a new novel as much as a footnote on characters from other books. Never have I been this disappointed with a Stephanie Laurens book. Too bad I actually used credits in the purchase.
This is another great adventure, with jus enough suspense to keep you on the edge of you set. hope you enjoy as much as I did.
"The end of an era"
Love the story want different narrator it brought the Cinster family together of the old and now the new generation will, continue.
