Joelle D'Angelo's best friend, Mara, is left with brain damage after she suffers an aneurysm giving birth to her son. Alone and grieving, Joelle turns to the only other person who understands her pain: her colleague - and Mara's husband - Liam. What starts out as comfort between friends gradually becomes something more.
Torn by guilt and the impossibility of her feelings for Liam, Joelle sets out determined to find help for Mara, no matter how unconventional the source. Her search leads her to a mansion in Monterey, California, and into the life of a woman shrouded in mystery. Carlynn Kling Shire is a healer and, according to Joelle's parents, saved Joelle's life when she was an infant. As Joelle is guided down an unfamiliar path by a woman keeping her own shocking secrets, she discovers that while some love is doomed, some love is destined to survive anything.

I hardly find any audio books that keep me listening till the end. This book did just that! From the soothing narrator voice throughout to the likeable characters. Very easy to follow and simply entertaining. Would definitely recommend!
I very rarely find a Chamberlain book that I do not enjoy however, the word of enjoy is a vast understatement for this selection. This book takes you through modern day with reflections of the past by intertwining two very compelling stories. The last few chapters is sure to raise your eyebrows then reach for tissues. Loved!!!
Another great book and story by Diane Chamberlain. Enjoyed from beginning to end. Lots of twists and turns that keeps you drawn in which is always typical of her work. I would recommend for sure. Enjoy!
"Story interesting, Narrator was terrible."
Narrator ruined the book for me! Good story but the voices were irritating. Would not buy another book with this narrator
This one was a little different. Some alternate healing involved and a big twist at the end.
This book had me riveted by the second chapter. A compelling and interesting story with rich characters.
"Warm intertwined telling of 4 love stories"
I truly enjoyed this book. It was a little confusing at first to understand al, of the characters, but you "flash to the past" and to current on alternating chapters. Twists and turns, very unexpected ones, especially in the last few chapters. Will read more stories from this author.
what a great listen I truly enjoyed this book can't wait to hear more from this author
"A perfect mixture of sorrow and joy"
Probably in the top 15-20
The moment when you find out that Carlynn died and Lisbeth spent her whole life living as her sister.
I really enjoyed her as an narrator even as the male parts. She brought life and emotion to the characters.
The lines of life aren't always black and white, but in the end, love always prevails.
A true mix of sorrow and joy just like the characters in the book.
I enjoyed this book far more than I suspected I would. Just when you think you know exactly what is happening, you are reminded you are on a rollercoaster that the author, Diane Chamberlain, created and you better hold on for a wild ride.
I listened to this book on audible, and this narrator is one of my all time favorites.
This book reminds us that life and love aren't always black and white. Sometimes love takes you places that you never expected and that is perfectly ok.
I won't write an extremely long review for fear of giving away spoilers, but pick up this book. You won't be sorry.
good book, light story line. ending was short. I will definitely be listening to more Diane Chamberlain books.
